We stayed at the Hotel I'Abri du Voyageur for three days and we have nothing but the best things to say about it.
The location is perfect being so close to 'old town' and St. Laurent, although I can see why people traveling with families may not like the many sex shops in the area. The room was very clean, spacious with very high ceilings. The gentleman who was helping was check in was very nice and even went outside with us to show us where to park.
I would certainly recommend this to people traveling to Montreal to have fun and I would stay there again!

I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel was modern looking and very clean. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The location is good, just enough off the beaten path, but close enough to easily get anywhere. I only thing my room was missing was a refrigerator and microwave, but in the grand scheme of things I probably wouldn't have used them much anyway. There is an adult toy store next to the hotel, but it's pretty discrete and it's not something that would ever deter me from staying here again (even if it's a family trip), after all I'm not hanging out in front of the hotel anyway. Montreal was a great city to visit and when I get a chance to go again, the first hotel I try to book will be the Hotel I'Abri du Voyageur.

Being in the centre of Montreal,you pay a bit more and get a little less,which is what I would say about this hotel/guest house.
It's relatively clean. The rooms are basic but ok.
Would be nice if they had a lift,to save me walking up two flights of stairs with heavy luggage,but that is a minor gripe. Location is ok. Nearest metro was few minutes walk away.

Stayed here for four nights during recent weekend visit to Montreal. My room had a double bed, flat screen tv, wood floors, exposed brick and very modern furnishings and its own bathroom. There are two parts to the hotel and I stayed in the renovated part with ensuite rooms. The hotel is small and personalble, the staff helpful and accomodating. The hotel is located smack in the center, at the corner of Ste Catherine and Ste Laurent. Getting to places was easy as there is a subway a block away. Also the airport express bus 747 stops a block away on Ste Laurent so getting to and from airport also was quick, easy and cheap ($8). The rates were reasonable. So all in all a very good choice!
