I booked this room after checking it out ion tripadvisor and was very dissapointed. The staff were wonderful...no doubt about it. But the room was dated with old tvs, furniture and baths....heaters left alot to be desired and the breakfast was overpriced for what we received....bagged scrambled eggs and canned beans......location is good if not a bit seedy. Only a ten minute walk from the "real" downtown. This place is fine if you steal it....and the breakfast is free. Great sports ber acrooss the street with tons of tvs, good grub and cheap beer.

Stayed in January, 2012. Very well appointed room, quite spacious and very well kept, very clean.
Stayed in a "Signature Room" which was more than adequate.
Located about 6 blocks from the shopping district which is an easy walk.
Buffet breakfast was good and the dining room staff was very attentive and pleasant.
Parking is available right next door for around $20.
Might be nice to have some music in the room, as there is only a TV, no way to play local radio. etc.

Stayed here during Montreal's busiest weekend. We were in one of their excellent 2 room, 1 1/2 bath suites on the top floors so this definitely slants my opinion towards the positive. The rooms were very clean, the staff courteous and professional, breakfasts satisfying and the hotel is in close proximity to the city center. The 2 blocks down the street from the hotel heading towards city center are a little rundown but we were never bothered by it. We look forward to going to Montreal and staying at the du Fort again

We regularly stay at Hotel du Fort, when visiting our Montreal family. We find that the rooms are consistently clean and the staff consistently helpful. The moderate price leaves us feeling that we have received good value for what we have paid.

Although the choice of pillow is a somewhat personal thing, the only suggestion I might make is to have a pillow option that is a little firmer. Other than that, the quiet atmosphere always contributes to a good night's rest.

The complimentary Wifi was a great value added addition on this visit.
