“Great location & old hotel charm at a discount.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

This hotel was a surprising find thru Hotwire. It is advertised as a 4 star, which it deserves for level of service and amenities. However, if I would not have paid full price.I would choose a more modern and updated hotel for the$200/night. We paid half that, which made it only $20 more than the cheapest hotels which mentioned bed bugs. We figured that it is better to spend a bit extra, and boy, a little extra cash brings you to a much ritzier class of hotel. Keep in mind though, that on top of that they charge $20/day for parking.

It is not the cheapest way to stay in Montreal- but it also is nice that it didn't feel like a cheap hotel. It has a nice old school charm about it and location is fantastic! Right by Apple store, Urban Outfitters and higher class shops off of St. Catherine street. Also a great cafe right beside it. Get this hotel on a discount and it is a great value.

“Welcoming Hotel”

This is our second December (22 -24th) visiting this hotel, with its perfect location, wonderful staff and service. The Hotel is cozy and personal, with large comfortable rooms, a lively bar-restaurant, excellent bistro and the kindest breakfast staff.
Makes for a nice change as far as hotels go during the holiday season as this hotel maintains a very warm and welcoming atmosphere as opposed the usual impersonal large hotel chains. Also their rates are very attractive despite the high season. Highly recommend it.

Stayed here with my son over the Holidaze. Great location. The Sunday Brunch is excellent! Super kind staff. Would definitely stay there again!

“Old world charm”

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel de la Montagne in downtown Montreal in December and were certainly not disappointed. The rooms were very spacious, clean and had lovely antique furniture. The bed was wonderfully firm and had a light and lofty duvet. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast at the luxurious hotel restaurant, Le Lutetia. Service was very good. We were fortunate to take advantage of the amazing Christmas special package, which means your year of birth determines your room rate. For example, if you were born in 1950, your room rate will be only $50.00 per night, from December 11th 2011 until January 15th 2012*. Great promotion! We will be back next time we visit Montreal.

Room Tip: If you go in summer choose a room on higher floor as the noise from the nightclubs may be a distract...

“a personal favourite in Montreal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Hotel de la Montagne is a favourite of my family and myself and we have stayed there more than a half dozen times in the last 15 years, it is a solid standard, never disappoints. The hotel is privately owned and has 143 rooms. It is located between De Maisonneuve and St-Catherine Streets and is central to shopping, museums, restaurants and night clubs. The rooms are very clean, quiet and big, much larger than the average hotel rooms and the bathrooms are modern with a touch of luxury, some have a giant shower. The hotel also has valet parking and great restaurants. My favourite is Les Beaux Jeudis, decorated in the style of a Parisian Brasserie. The food is excellent and the portions generous, great wine selection and impeccable service. They also offer set menus which includes everything, so for $25 dllrs you can have a very good meal.
The hotel also features a pool on the roof with a spectacular view of Montreal. A great pied a terre when in Montreal at competitive room prices.
