“Nice Modern Hotel - short walk to Old Montreal & Cafes/Rests.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

This is a nice modern hotel on the edge of the Old City - just a couple of blocks into the heart of the old cobblestone street district with it's cafes and restaurants.

Hotel has great picture windows with views of the city. It is in walking distance to many attractions. Hotel is modern, although decor harks back about a decade. Large bathroom, comfortable beds with good linens. Good Value, compared with other hotels in the Old City.

Room Tip: Although there are a few very good restaurants in the picturesque old city, a good portion of them t...

“Recommend It”

My boyfriend and I chose to stay here on the referral of a friend and because of it's central location to downtown and Old Montreal.

The staff was friendly and very helpful in regards to directions, restaurant recommendations, etc. The decor is up to date and modern, quite swank. There is a bar and a restaurant, of which we only experienced the bar. Good munchies with your drinks, ask for absinthe and water if you've never tried it (interesting and tasty). Our only complaint with the bar was that the service wasn't great. The hotel has either 4 or 6 elevators, I can't remember, but we never had to wait long for one. A nice touch was that during the day there were mats in the elevators that read "Bonjour" and in the evening they were switched out to "Bonsoir".

We had a king room on the 19th floor with a view of the next building. Wasn't impressed as we'd asked for a room with a view, but we didn't complain as our intent wasn't to stare out the window for 4 days. Given that the hotel is in the financial district, most views may quite be similar to the one we had. Our room was spacious, modern and very clean. The bed and bedding was divine and we slept deep and long every night. We didn't hear a sound from neighbouring rooms or the hallway. My boyfriend's only complaint was that the room wasn't bright enough. There was a Keurig coffee machine that was restocked daily with Colombian coffee and green tea. The washroom was also spacious, had a great showerhead with good pressure, large towels, a salon style hairdryer and a decent fan.

Old Montreal is a few blocks away in one direction and the downtown core is a few more blocks away in the other direction. We walked everywhere. Cab fare from the airport was $38.

All in all, this was a good stay and we'd definitely stay here again.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Overall stay was good but the amine of money you spend you get very less value. For that kind of money you kind definitely find better value. The cafe in hotel has wired hours it closes at 3 or 4 which is a great hassle.

“Great find for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Booked this on a great deal with TravelZoo. Although there was some confusion with the booking upon arrival, got that sorted out and checked into our room. Modern, clean, fairly spacious and well appointed. Comfy chair, nice tv etc. Towels, robe and linens all good quality. Really comfortable bed and greatest pillows ever! Very nice little treat of bottled water and macarons left in room during evening. Nice touch indeed!
Had (overpriced!) drinks in the lobby bar - a draft beer and caesar $21+ with taxes. Buffet breakfast was included in our "sejour" and was pretty decent with a good selection of baked goods, breakfast meats, eggs, fruits, yogurts, cheese, etc. Although it was good, I doubt I'd go back if I had to pay regular price (23$ per person).
Only thing that I thought a bit chintzy was charging 10$ for 2 hours internet. Come on people, its 2012 - you get free internet at airports and most hotels. Why not throw it in?
Other than that, very pleased with the Intercontinental and will be going back.

“Fantastic Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Nothing to complain about the staff - including concierge - I've staid there for about 8 nights and as frequent traveller i was impressed by the friendlyness of the reception desk staff - bar man and for sure the concierge who did his utmost to accomodate my stay - ... unfortunately not all downtown of montreal is safe and you should NOT leave anything unattended in any circumstances and for sure not in cars !
