“Hotel Close to St Catherine Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel is built into the corner of Desjardins Complex fast food and shopping Center, on the corner of St Catherine Street and Rue Jeanne Mance which is the main downtown street for things going on in Montreal, like city shows and concets are just across the street (but mainly in the summer) there is the Theatre Maissonneuve and L'Opéra de Montréal 1 minute walk. Valet parking is $30 + tax with in/out privileges. My room was clean but this hotel is looking tried, carpets over used, and in need of a refubish. Small things didn't work, like the hair dryer, I also had to get the batteries replace in the TV remote, example: downstairs next to the front desk is an automated self serve wine bar with a very inviting large gas fire place to sit and enjoy with a glass of wine, however the automated wine bar was not working and only the bar service was available. I found the staff friendly and very helpful with local directions. All the rooms start at about the third or forth floor and go up so you get a city veiw no matter what room you get. The breakfast is buffet $21 run-of-the-mill fare but acceptable. The hotel is close to Chinatown but not much of a Chinatown in Montreal, old Montreal is a brisk 15 minute walk away, subway within 2 minutes walk. Good all round location, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: The Hotel enterance is off Rue Jeanne Mance which is a oneway street coming up from Rene Levesque B...

Thank you for your comments and I am pleased that you enjoyed the hotel.I do hope that you can sample the international wines in our wine bar on your next visit. I do apologize if the wines were unavailable on that particular day due to servicing. As an alternative to the $30.00 hotel valet parking, the indoor mall parking downstairs is $19.00 per day. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back soon.

“Enjoyable Stay - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Husband and I stayed here for one night in January just for a quick get-away and we were very happy with our our stay. Room was very clean and bed was super comfortable. Pretty average room amentities (ie. ipod doc, coffee maker, safe, mini fridge, flat screen tv). The bathroom was clean (small - but clean), but lacking on the towels although I am sure if I called housekeeping they would have brought up extra's without an issue. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful. Pool area was really nice and clean but we did not swim so can't comment on the pool temperature. Really nice up to date gym. The hotel has a really interesting 'serve yourself' wine bar/lounge. You purchase wine cards at the front desk and 'help yourself' to various international wines (prices range from $3.00 a 1/8 glass to $23.00 a 1/2 glass). You can sit and sip by a fireplace and the wine bar area also has free wifi. NOTE: There is no free wifi in the rooms but if you travel frequently you'll know that most of the 'upper' levels of hotels (3.5 stars and up) don't offer free wifi anyways. All of the public areas in the hotel offered free wifi and the hotel has quite a few public/lounge areas so it wasnt an issue. Husband and I enjoyed the bar area and the decor was really nice/modern - bartenders were friendly as well. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall and it was $10.00/24 hours (no in/out priviledges) on the weekend if you parked at the underground mall parking. The hotel is within walking distance to Old Montreal and the water (15-20 minute walk). I can't comment on the hotel food/restaurant as as we walked down to Old Montreal and enjoyed dinner at one of the restaurants there.

Enjoyed our stay, and would stay again. Found nothing bad to say or even negative points to mention. Ended up getting a really good price using Hotwire so that was even better.

Please note the pictures ... the room is actually nicer than the pictures show.

Room Tip: Corner suites (8th floor) have a great view - although a bit smaller in room size but worth it.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay! What lovely positive feedback, thank you. Yes, our new-concept self-serve wine bar is extremely popular with our Guests. It affords the opportunity of sampling a host of international wines "by the glass". You must return in the summer months and experience our beautiful outdoor terraces overlooking the downtown entertainment district of Montreal, and sample some Quebec local foods in our new Six Resto-Lounge right next to the wine bar. Hope to welcome you back soon!

“Excellent stay over MLK weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We stayed at the Montreal Hyatt for a long holiday weekend. We were very happy with our our stay. The furniture in our room was modern and there were robes, extra pillows, blankets, plenty of nice-quality toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, and the ipod/radio in the room was easy to use and good sound quality. The pod coffee makers in the rooms allowing us to make one fresh cup at a time were appreciated. The staff we interacted with were excellent. We did not see any issues with room service trays in the halls, all public spaces were neat and clean. We ate in the restaurant, and the decor is very dramatic, there are 3 fireplaces you can sit at, and there is a nice pool at the ground level. Our room rate was excellent and was better than the similar quality hotels in the area.
We ate in the restaurant because it was so cold outside. The food was prepared well and the presentation was excellent. Our waitress was also a bartender and she monitored our drinks perfectly, and brought us extra snacks, even after dinner when we were done and sitting in the bar. The restaurant and bar area has elaborate decor, with cool furniture groupings and elaborate interior design.
The hotel is connected to the underground city so it is possible to connect from amtrak to the hotel without going outside, and to visit many parts of the downtown while remaining indoors.

What a wonderful review! Thank you so much. We are so pleased that you were able to enjoy our new Six Resto-Lounge and our indoor pool overlooking the Entertainment district in downtown Montreal. You mentioned our new state-of-the art glass fireplaces...did you have the opportunity of experiencing our international wines "by the glass" at our new-concept self-serve wine bar? Cards to access the wines may be purchased at the front desk and used to sample any or many wines of your choice. It was our privilege to have you as our guests, and we do look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

“Great location but that's about it.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Stayed for 2 nights in Jan 2012.

Pros:
1. Great location - right on top of mall with elevator connection so close to food court and right in downtown Montreal.
2. Got really cheap rate on priceline.

Cons:
1. PARKING EXTRA $19 PER DAY
2. Pool water cold
3. Safe in room didn't work
4. Refrigerator in room didn't work
5. Phones didn't work properly (would ring and ring even when someone picked up)
6. No free wifi in rooms.

Thank you for your comments which assist us in correcting any deficiencies in either our product or service. The indoor parking below the hotel is owned by the mall complex and not the hotel. However the $19.00 parking fee is extremely competitive for a downtown hotel, especially in the heart of the entertainment district and within walking distance of the Old Port and Old Montreal. All of the refrigerators and safes are new and have recently been installed in all of our 605 rooms. If an issue is reported, it is looked after immediately by our maintenance department. I apologize if this was not the case in your situation. On another note, I hope you did have the opportunity of trying our collection of international wines in our new state-of-the-art self-serve wine bar located on the lobby level in our innovative Six Resto-Lounge. If not, perhaps on your next visit. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

“Nice room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We went there two times at the end of 2011, one night mid December, one night end of December. The room was nice, but the breakfast was so bad, regarding both the service and the poor quality of the food, that we changed our second reservation after the first stay, from a breakfast inclusive package to a night only package, and we had our breakfast to another hotel nearby.

Thank you very much for your feedback, and we are pleased that you enjoyed both the hotel and your room. I am sorry to hear that you found the breakfast buffet less than satisfactory, and would be interested in knowing more specifics about what you did not like regarding the quality. We strive to provide service excellence in both our product and service, and it would be most helpful to be made aware of any deficencies that we can correct. Past guest comments regarding the quality and variety of choices have been quite positive, therefore your input is most welcomed. We hope to have the pleasure of hosting an upcoming stay once again!
