“Very Welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2010

I thought that this place was in a great location. The workers were very plesant and kind. If your looking for a clean and cheap night to rest your head, this is the place to go. There is a Continental breakfast that wasn't the greatest. But who can complain with the price of the nights stay? I felt welcome even though it was like 2am in the morning that I got there when I was coming back from a wedding.

“Super Cute and Great Friendly Service”

My girlfriend and I stayed here in our trip this August. This was our first visit to Montreal and so we had no idea what to expect from this hotel. We were more than pleasantly surprised. The hotel and its staff were friendly and charming with a feeling of the old world. While our (budget) room was relatively small, it was perfect for a couple; perhaps the cutest room I've ever stayed in. We enjoyed the continental breakfast. The location, while a bit seedy in its immediate surroundings, is close to everything: 2 metro stops, the Old City, the Latin Quarter, tons of great restaurants and shopping, the Gay Village, and much more, is within walking distance. The free parking behind the hotel is welcome given there is very little street parking in the area and lots tend to be expensive. We ended up having to stay somewhere else nearby the last night since this hotel was booked and while adequate, it had nothing on Hotel Manoir des Alpes.

“Spend the extra $$ and stay someplace else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

Let me start by saying its really too bad that the service at this hotel is so exceptional! Unfortunately its not enuff to make me stay here again. The location is not that desirable, on the way in we noticed some hookers and bums/beggers, not that they bothered us, but its not a great thing to be greeted by when you finaly think your near your hotel after driving 5 hrs. getting lost for 45 min. and detoured repeatedly because of a street fair and one ways :( our room was nothing like the photos on the website, my parents staying with my sister however, had a beautiful room, very large! Our room smelled like mildew, but looked clean. They had a continental breakfast that we had to leave there cuz it was aweful, i had a 1 slice of whole wheat bread, ( i would have had 2 but they ran out) , my cup of coffee was the prettiest cuz it was decorated with someone elses lipstick....UUUUUGGGGGG....PUKE! My husband tried to grab a bagle, if thats what you want to call it, he took one bite and put it down.....we went somewhere else to eat. There are no elevators as you all know from previous reviews so if thats going to bother you, you should request a room on the first floor. Ok, so those r my complaints, but like i said the staff are so great, friendly, nice, so willing to help with everything! The location depending what your looking for is probably good because of the close walking distance to resteaurants and shops and i noticed a metro station too very close by.

Hope that helped

“European small hotel feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

My 13-yr old daughter and I came for a long weekend. We've traveled in Europe, and that's just how this hotel felt! Friendly staff, courteous guests - nice continental breakfast with chocolate croissants and some of the BEST coffee I've had anywhere. We slept well and the AC was nice. The WiFi was excellent!
The best part of the Manoir hotel is LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION, we could walk to old Montreal and Chinatown in 15 minutes, St. Catherine St. was a couple blocks away, as was the Metro stop - the hotel was easy to get to off the highway, too. Parking is FREE. We'll definitely stay here next time we visit.
Oh and the desk staff was great, they gave us maps, directions, and hints on what was going on in town.

“THE BEST DEAL FOR THE MONEY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2010

I don't know if a lot of you people are like me but to be satisfied I usually look at what i get for what I pay. In this regard let me tell you that the Manoir des Alpes fully satisfied me. I've been to a lot of places in this area for work or vacation so I'm quite aware of what the offer is.

My work allows me to stay in large scale expensive hotels, however when I'm on vacation with my family I have to look for more affordable places within my budget. The first thing i will tell you is to not expect luxury, because if you are, you'll be disapointed. At this price range you have to be realistic. You will find luxurious 3 or 4 stars hotels nearby but expect to spend at least $50+ more.

Instead of beeing luxurious and modern, the Manoir des Alpes gives you swiss-style deco and warmth; or as my wife says: "cozzy and cute!". The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is helpfull, the location is close to everything, what more can you ask for? Well here it is... a HUGE PARKING lot, WI-FI, all-you-can-eat breakfast all of them for FREE. This is where the Manoir des Alpes has the upper hand and why it's my place of choice.

A few cons: The extra pillow wasn't firm enough so they changed it, also I had to heat the croissant to fully appreciate it (I think there's not enough butter in them) but the waffles and real maple syrop (a must!) made up for it and those Fairmount bagels are just sweet! And don't hesitate to ask for more orange juice.
