“helpful staff”

My wife and I took our daughter, son-in-law and their two kids for a weekend stay in Montreal and decided to try Le Crystal. We live near Montreal and have stayed at most of the major hotels in downtown Montreal and in Old Montreal. We had never, however, stayed at Le Crystal which is relatively new to the Montreal hotel scene. We decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. The entire staff was very courteous. We had two adjoining rooms and because we arrived early one of the rooms was not yet ready. They allowed us access to our one room and quickly finished cleaning the second, then promptly notified us when it was ready.
The location is right across from the Bell Centre so if you are going to a Canadiens game or any other event there, it is a very convenient location. Lively Crescent street is just one block over. It is an all suite hotel and we had two deluxe suites. Some of the comments indicate that the classic suites are small so that it why we opted for the larger suite. It was a nice size with a kitchenette area and a separate sitting area. The bed was a luxurious king with a bearskin throw on top of it. Nice touch. The bathroom was huge.
It is a good hotel for families because of the large pool which is about three feet deep. Good for both laps and for kids to play. A lifeguard was on duty all the time. Great views of Montreal from the pool floor plus an outdoor hot tub which we scurried to on a cold January day. We didn't try the restaurant but did have a drink at the bar and it seems very attractive.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If the price differential is not too much, the larger deluxe suite is very nice.

“Pool not open! Queen Superior SMALL”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

First impressions is that Staff are courteous and rooms are clean and have a condo feel. A 'queen superior' was probably not the appropriate room for a couple. The bedroom is extremely small. We're constantly bumping into each other. If I was working here by myself on business this suite would be great. The washroom is very spacious. The duvet appeared washed several times and lost its fluffiness. Comforter was sub standard compared to the fluffy duvets you get in standard rooms in other hotels. We are in room 613 and have a dull view of the YMCA. If you want a view make sure to request it.

Dear Lance L,

Thank you for your review... We apologize for the 2 day pool closure - we had a glass door break next to the pool area and felt it was only prudent to empty the pool and properly vacuum any potential pieces which may have flown in the direction of the pool. Our duvet is a silk duvet in order to be hypoallergenic and is actually quite flat. I noted the duvet cover comment - it should have been in top shape as we replaced all in the spring of 2011. We will re-inspect them...

Superior suites are perfect for single business travellers as we are business focused and that is why the suiet contains a business desk which may indeed have made the bedroom a bit too cozy for two people. For added business services we provide complimentary acees to the business center on level 3 for guests who want huge open space.

Thank you for your other kind service comments and we are happy to report the pool is completely functional!

Thank you and we hope to welcome you again in the future,

Geoff Allan

“Gorgeous hotel in a great spot”

This hotel was great! It's beautiful from the outside and the room and bathroom were both large. The bathroom had a glass standing shower and a jacuzzi tub next to it with designer toiletries. The kitchenette came equipped with everything (except a wine opener!) including a nespresso machine- which we used every morning. The hotel is right behind rue catherine and nearby many clubs/bars and shopping areas. It's also 2 blocks away from a BIXI station. We went for our honeymoon and received a small welcome note and small gift in our room which was very lovely. Would definitely recommend this hotel. There was also a lovely outside area in the back of the hotel with furniture. For us- it was worth every penny!

“Great staff”

Visited hotel for use of spa Isba. Staff at reception, massage, and pool area extremely courteous and helpful, especially valet service. Enjoyed a competent massage and facial. Overall very clean and and well kept, situated just steps from Molson center. Only negative is Ester who runs the spa that is rude and even accussed us of not paying for services (even though we had paid earlier in the day). Ester did not even offer an apology after finding the payment.

“Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I have travelled alot in my time to many different hotels as my job requires it. I stayed at this hotel for the new years 2011 and I was very impressed. We got a superior room, comes with a queen bed. The room is clean lines and neutral colours. The bed was very comfy, but the pillows were not that great, but I found out you can request a diff type one on the day I was leaving, I should of asked. The bathroom was a wow, huge shower with 2 shower heads and all glassed in. 2 sinks and 2 robes with slippers, lots of towels and nice bath products. Lots of space for unpacking, 2 closets, 1.5 dressers and kitchen cupboards. It had a kitchenette that came with a microwave, mini fridge, esspresso machine and kettle. I brought a toaster for toast in the morning and wished I had brought a coffee maker as there was not one there, you could not have reg coffee unless you ordered it was 10 dollars or went downstairs to cafe for a bit cheaper. Coffee was not that great, weak, so bring your own coffee maker and coffee if you can. They had plates, cutlery, mugs, glasses, all you really need for small meals. The hotel has a great outside hot tub, use it, it's big and nice to be outside. The pool was a tad bit cool, would of been nice to be a bit warmer and they had to great saunas and a lounge area. I liked the pool area and gym, was a bit different then most hotels. So the pool was good, hotel room good, but the best part was the service....wow, the bell boys were fantastic...we got there, they helped unload the car, brought the stuff to the room, parked the car and then went to get me some stuff that I forgot from it. when we were leaving we went to ask for a luggage holder, he brought it up, we filled it and he took it back and loaded the car for us before we even got down. The front desk was at our becking call and the maids were great. All in all it was a great stay...also in less then 5 min walk you are at all kinds of outside stores, restaurants, pubs, night clubs and to get on the highway was easy, the 720 was right there. great location, I will be back. Mind you it was almost 300 a night with taxes, parking and room...but you never have to park your own car it's all valet and same price as a standard hotel.

Room Tip: If you have kids I would suggest superior or delux room at least, not the urban
