“Convenient to Metro and Bus Station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Hotel is located at the end of the yellow Metro line and the intercity bus terminal. It's a good location in this respect. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed except for a continental breakfast ($5.95) and there are no other restaurants within walking distance. There are fast food outlets in the Metro/bus terminal -- Tim Horton's, Subway, McDonalds, etc. The hotel is also well located with respect to the University of Sherbrooke Longueuil Campus.

The hotel itself is quite nice, clean, pleasant staff, etc.

Room Tip: On one side of the corridor the rooms over look Montreal.

“Difficult Stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

The parking lot is controlled by your room card, when it doesn't work immediately, you're stuck behind many vehicles. The executive suite is on the 14th floor. The hallway was under construction, way into the evening when I checked in. It was a mess, and the maid dragged in the mess from the hall into my room, and didn't notice, leaving it there. The front desk staff charged $80 per night, for a deposit, which is more than any place I've ever stayed. When I argued, he said he would turn off phone usage and tv movie usage, and reverse the deposit charges. He reversed the deposit charges in front of me, but the next day Visa advised he still charged $170 without advising me. The next night, I saw a customer having a heated argument regarding the fact they would not accept her Expedia booking, which was fully paid, but which never got to them. The location is extremely difficult to drive around, situated immediately next to a subway terminal, and leading out directly onto a major highway. For all of my travels, despite the beauty and comfort of the room, I had driving, parking, hallway, and deposit issues which I haven't had elsewhere. Expensive restaurant.

Dear trip advisor member ( Farida D)

We have noted your comments and please accept our most sincere apologies. Thoses events are as unusual as regrettable. It is through feedback that we will be able to improve in the future. We have renovated our hotel during the slower season and I am sorry to hear that it affect negatively your stay. Many upgrades and amenities was input during december such as our new parking security facility, new carpets on several floor of the hotel, bistro newly renovated..etc. We were also aware of the difficulty to access the hotel which we had no control since the city had to do some contructions. We are very happy to say that it's now over and you can access easily the hotel on both side ( on De Serigny street or Lafayette blv/by the 132).

We sincerely hope to have the pleasure to have you with us again so we can demonstrate that the quality of our service is far superior to the impression that you had to keep during your last visit.

I would like to invite you to contact me for more informations or for any suggestions you would like to tell me.

Waiting for the enjoyment of your next visit, please accept the expression of our full consideration.

Sincerely,

“Metro and Formula 1!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

My husband and I stayed here during the Canada Grand Prix in Montreal. The hotel was so convenient! Only one stop on the metro to get to the race and we definitely went in the "less crowded" direction. Also, the metro stop has small fast food chains and a grocery store to pick up little items.

The restaurant in the hotel was nice. Every morning there was a breakfast buffet. Free parking was a definite bonus. The staff were very pleasant - speaking both English and French. The room was average; not luxurious but had all the typical amenities. The hotel was convenient to the highway.

The area the Sandman is in is like the suburbs with some large business buildings around. None of the charm that you can find in downtown Montreal.

“Not the best place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2011

When I was there my toilet was leaking as soon as I got into my room; took them a while to come fix it. A little disappointing.

“Another good stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

This is my second time to Montreal and staying outside of town.It is the smart thing to do. Across the parking lot at the Sandman is the Metro station. I have stayed inside the city limits before and it was fustrating. Traffic and signs are difficult to understand when you are from the U.S. . I even speak French, ( Origianlly from Canada) but the signage is not great to get around the city. The Metro is the way to go.
Now the rooms are very nice and clean. The maids must work hard to clean these big rooms and full baths. The view was good, the heat and fan was also good. The beds are comfortable. I will be back again. Thank you.
