Hi everybody, I’ve just returned from a night stay at the Hotel La Sagueneenne in Chicoutimi and here is my review. I had originally planned on staying two nights but I left the very next day. I rate hotels by the sleep comfort, no matter how nice a room can be if for some reason you can’t sleep well it’s not what it’s meant to be. I checked in late afternoon and everything seemed great, the room was a decent size, and I had a nice pool view. I did notice that it was impossible to open the windows since they were bolted in place. My room 207 had a queen size bed and a spongy worn out sofa bed, it also had a small fridge, coffee machine, and a few extra amenities. Later in the evening I decided to start the air conditioning unit to cool down the room, it started but the noise level was such that I couldn’t longer hear the television, I couldn’t’ t believe it. I figured that it would run smooth after a few minutes but no. I’m convinced that this unit was the original unit that was installed back in the 70’s, the compressor sounded like I was in a machine shop, really incredible I tried to see if I could reduce the noise by lowering the settings but that didn’t help, deafening decibels. I called the front desk and I must have been speaking loud due to the noise, I asked them if I could switch rooms because of the noise that my air conditioned was making, the receptionist who was very nice informed that all the rooms had these old units, what a disappointment, I had read disappointing reviews about this place but I figured they were isolated cases. In any case I tried to sleep it off but I just couldn’t sleep properly. I hope that the management reads my review, and I would love to hear their comments. Aside from the noise level, the room was okay, nothing special and it could definitely use some remodeling. So for the final question, would I return to Hotel La Sagueneenne? Definitely not, and I would recommend you try another hotel instead. Cheers!!
