“It turned out fine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

We were booked to stay here for two nights. As we arrived, the parking lot was very crowded. We had to "create" a spot for our little rental car. There was a festival nearby and I suspect the parking lot was being used by unauthorized people. Our original room was a big disappointment. It was dingy, the AC wasn't working and it looked at a brick wall. We asked to be moved and were upgraded cheerfully at no charge. The bed and lines were very nice. The hallways are a bit dismal but basically clean. The breakfast that was included was very nice - not continental but choice of omelettes, french toast, etc. I would go back but the web site shows a much more modern room and hotel in general.

Room Tip: Check your room first before taking your luggage up!

“Overpriced for a 4 stars hotel !!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2011

We booked this hotel after looking rooms on their very professionnal looking website. We had great expectation because that is a 4 stars rated hotel and they won many prices on last years.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. From the outside, the hotel looks very creepy. The only thing that fit to a modern hotel is the sign. From the inside, the lobby looks a bit like an hospital entrance.

The first room we had had a look over the rear backyard and the roof, with rusted emergency stairs and A/C output systems. The concierge moved us to a front street room after the commentary.

There is a lot of mess in this hotels rooms, specially for a 4 stars rated hotel. First, there is no refrigerated mini-bar, only a basket on the room table with a few things. Next, you have a plain old water heating system in the room, that remember you that it is a quite old building. Also, the room have hanging ceiling everywhere, even in the bathroom ! I'm not a specialist, but I can assure you that a mould problem will appear shortly and bring lungs problem.

The bathroom also had a missing ventilation system, taking a shower is making the room totally wet. The bathtub caulk was also missy and there was mould on it. The furnitures was cheaply repainted, and scratched. I was unable to find an electric outlet near from the room working desk, the only one available was behind the couch or the bed.

The tv was a very old tube model, with the remote wrapped with tape. After 2 minutes, batteries were dead. I have also to tell that the bed had a very uncomfortable mattress, bending in the center like an old one.

We had an included breakfast with the room, what is a nice thing. Also, there was a sign in the room advertising that they have now "expresso" (yeah, that is a mistake) available. I'm the kind of guy who likes an espresso to start her day.

At the hotel restaurant, for the breakfast, the waitress told me that they were no espresso machine... And we ordered 7 grains bread, but they were out of 7 grains breads, brown bread too. And according to the menu, my girlfriend had an included meat with her meal, but the waitress said that it was changed an no more included.

Finally, i can say that the staff was kind and professional a, specially the concierge who received us first. Also, the hotel is quite well located in the downtown. That was the only thing that should be 4 stars rated. For the rest, i would give a 2 start and half, maybe 3. Those rooms are over priced and are totally not 4 stars room.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel, this is not a 4 stars

“Room not as reserved”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

We were going to this Hotel because some friends of ours were celebrating their wedding anniversary. I had booked my reservation over the phone. The room was reserved for 2 adults which was supposed to have a double bed and a sofa bed. The price was set accordingly, However after arriving in my room we realized that this was a very basic room, the lower grade with only one bed, no sofa present.
Hotel was full for the week-end, apologies, but they could not find us another room to meet our criteria set at reservation time. They could only bring a mini roller bed.
Very disappointing solution. They reduce our rate by a few dollar.
I have to say that the young staff were very polite, courteous and smiling.
Hotel is in need of new carpet, dark corridor, I was not impress and certainly would not used the "word" in need to be a 4 star hotel, they barely make it to 2.

Try another place, although well located, right downtown, but this city is not very big, any better hotel will served you better.
I am still waiting for a return phone call from the manager in service at the time of my check in, He has not returned my call for my billing inquiry.
I will not used that hotel in the future.
