We are a young family of 3, we stayed at the loyalist inn in Summerside between Christmas and New years this last December 2011 to visit family. When we return to visit again, we will be returning to this hotel. Although we arrived late and left early, we had a good stay. Staff were very friendly and service we needed was excellent. The bathroom had a large bathtub which my 1 year old daughter loved and the room was cozy with a flat screen TV. We got a good deal on price for the room when we called to book, probobly due to holiday season. Our night was quiet and thats what we look for! I think there was an indoor pool, but we never got to try it yet.

we were advised to only book at the loyalist by a friend who travels on teams a lot. other hotels are dirty and have bed bugs in summerside. The Loyalist is beautiful, modern and clean. We booked one night and stayed two because we were impressed. The room was huge and for a very good price. Call direct and ask for a better rate don't book online. we received a coupon for free mussels in the pub when we arrived. we went down and were so imwmpressed with the food and service. We ate all meals here because it was so good and prices were great! the reviews that say it's old are outdated and not recent, although I will say the bedspread needs to be updated. there was a clean fridge coffee maker hair dryer and all you needed there. the room was spotless. the only problem was the heat can't be turned down so yes we slept with open windows in November. We loved it and there are no bedbugs, mold or must here!! great time highly recommend it!

My wife grew up on PEI so we look forward to returning. This year we tired in our visit with Turkey Day. We booked online and read your reviews showing this property is above average. Well the truth is it is worn out and needs an update. The staff and service was excellent as most places you will find on PEI. The islanders for the most part are friendly and hard working, but despite the staff this place needs a facelift, beds wear worn out, carpets stained, trim around doors and windows chipped. Rooms and general area was clean and overall comfortable. The off season rates of over 100 USD without breakfast seems high but I would call the hotel directly and see if you can get a better rate. Overall very nice hardworking staff doing their best, but the place needs a makeover.
We had a ocean front harbor view room but this being potato season we ended up looking at a large rusting freighter from south America loading potatoes all night with bright spot lites for the 2 nights we stayed, again nothing anyone can do and I support the local industry. But remember that this is not always the quiet sleepily fishing village year round.
