We stayed in room 201. While a more spacious suite than a regular hotel room, it was shabby and poorly equipped and lit. Having stayed in a couple of excellent B and B's in PEI before, we were completely disappointed by the Mermaid Suites. I don't know what has happened since the previous reviews, but there was no maid service and the place seems to have deteriorated.
As for the owner, he seemed to forget that we were even coming. We hardly felt welcomed except by the nice young lady in the fish and chip shop below, who, it turned out, had the key.
This place would be suitable for student accommodation, but is definitely not a luxury suite as implied on its website.
The only thing it has to recommend it is a great location. This also has its pros and cons. It can by noisy at night and in the early morning.
We have generally had a wonderful stay in PEI and this is the only disappointment we've encountered.
