“Home away from home”

We recently spent three nights at the Hillhurst Inn in Charlottetown. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt like we were in a home away from home.
Our stay was magnificent for two main reasons. The first reason was due to the beauty and comfort of the Inn and its accomodations. The Inn, which is a heritage home, is extremely well appointed and very well maintained. The decor reflects the age of the home perfectly. Also, the rooms are kept very very clean and smell fresh.
The second most important reason we enjoyed our stay was due to the quality of the people working at the Inn. Everyone was genuine, kind and very helpful. We felt like a member of the Hillhurst Inn family, which was a great feeling. Finally, other patrons were nice to talk with over breakfast, which was my favourite meal of the day given the quality of the food served every morning. The breakfasts were excellent (decorated with flowers, home made bread and baked good). The morning breakfast routine was something we looked forward too each day. In all, we loved our time at this Inn.
A stay at the Hillhurst Inn is a must for people looking for a memorable experience in Charlottetown.

“Beautiful old house, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

We visited Hillhurst Inn during a heat wave just as Hurricane Earl was coming up the east coast. The staff is very accommodating. Melanie carried my bags up to my third floor room. The room was large with a sofa and desk and a king-size bed. There was a very large closet. The bathroom was very clean and had a jacuzzi tub. I walked 2 or 3 blocks, and I was in the heart of the town. Scott, the innkeeper, served a wonderful breakfast. I would stay there again.

“think again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2009

O.k. When given the option of either a queen or king room at the same price was given to me, I shouldn't have hesitated. The "choice" between the two was gone by the time we got there hours later. Queen it was. I should have remembered that Frommer's stated that some of the bathrooms were closets. Closet size from the 20's small. A corner shower and if you brought your head up fast at the sink you may hit your head on the shelf, substandard. Not the room you hope for especially at B&B prices. The morning breakfast was good, mostly 'cause of the guests there. Not a place you feel you can spend an afternoon just relaxing. Nice Island, but looking back would pass for an extra 2 days in Nova Scotia.

“wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

this was the first time i ever stayed at a b & b. i was a little nervous as we were traveling with my 3 1/2 yr old daughter.
the service was exceptional and they made us feel very welcome. we had went out for the evening and when we returned the hideabed had been pulled out for my daughter as well as childrens movies had been left.
the breakfast was tasty. We had french toast, sausages and coffee and juice. much better then a breakfast that would be included at a hotel.

“The B&B with the best windows”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

Awesome Bed & Breakfast - very well located in the town - easy access to all important points but most critically had the best window amongst all properties we have ever stayed at - allowed maximum light possible.

Great breakfast, nice & elegant furnishing (not overdone), more open than most older homes in the entrance area. Capable but tacit hosts. Washroom/Bathroom was tiny else everything else was fabulous.
