Walking distance to waterfront, restaurants, and downtown. Nice room, average breakfast. Overall, a good value.

The staff here was so nice and helpful, from answering my questions before we even got to Charlottetown, to the moment we walked out the door! We had an upstairs room, right next to the kitchen. It was only an issue one morning when two people were a little noisy. We slept with our window open and although I could hear some street noise, turning on the overhead fan helped with the noise. The room was small, but nicely furnished and very clean. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was quite large considering the size of the room. The hotel has a great location....I'm glad we didn't rent a car until we left Charlottetown as it would have totally gone to waste in the actual city. I did quite a bit of looking at accommodations before booking and I am so happy that I chose the Tailor Shop. Great place to stay and a great rate!
We stayed in room #1 with two double beds. It is an old home and the room felt the tired and old. (Although I overheard an employee one morning saying that the rooms upstairs had been renovated so perhaps the other rooms aren't as musty.) Netheless to say, the walls are not sound proof. I personally didn't like the room but my boyfriend did, so some people might find it charming. There was also a flatscreen tv and small fridge in the room. Self-serve breakfast is also included in the price.
We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and could heae the music from the bars across the street until 2am.
Regardless, this was one of the better priced hotels in the downtown core. It's a short walk to the harbour so the location is great!
Try the Water Prince Corner Shop for a great seafood meal!
We are so happy we found this hotel it saved us $$$ over the other larger hotel we were staying at. We actually had this hotel recommended to us when we visited the Charlottetown visitors center to look for cheaper accomodations.
This hotel was located right in the center of downtown across from Hunters an awesome restaurant that we ate at a few times during out stay.
We were greeted at the door by a lovely young lady that did everything she could to make our stay very comfortable and recommended restaruants for us and things to do.
Our room was very nice with super beds and very large bathroom, we started our day with the free breakfast that was self serve but all you could eat and a good selection for continental.
Recommended!
My wife and I booked this hotel for a one week trip to P.E.I.
Instead of staying at different hotels every night we decided to make this hotel our home base so we weren’t packing and unpacking daily as we had done in the spring on our tour of Holland. The province is small enough to be able to make day trips to every attraction on the island. The hotel is located just north of Province House and is centrally located so you can walk to everything in the city. The city its self is very small and you are only a two minute or so drive to get out to the highways. The hotel has plenty of parking around back and free parking in front on the weekends. The city its self has lots of street parking available, some metered (just during the day) and some free for one or two hours.
We stayed in room 8 which is on the ground floor at the back of the hotel. I could hear when someone was walking in the back of the hotel but it was infrequent. I don’t know what it would be like at the front of the hotel on the street side.
Our room has a king bed and a Jacuzzi tub in the washroom. The mattress while having a bit of movement was one of the most comfortable I have slept on. I generally have poor sleeping patterns and wake up frequently during the night. I was pleased to be able to drift off quickly and not wake till the morning feeling refreshed.
The room is furnished with antique furniture and is quite pleasant. In the washroom is a real bar sized refrigerator and not a cooler that has the capability to make ice (which we did). It also has room on the shelves above it to use as a pantry. If you would like to save some money and purchase sandwich fixings for picnic lunches it is easily done. If the room is too warm there is a window ac unit that is not too loud and an excellent ceiling fan that kept our room comfortable.
The shower head in our room needed to be replaced. I mentioned it to the manager and he said that he would have it done, so if you stay in this room it should not be a problem as it should be corrected.
The breakfasts that are supplied are of the minimalist type of continental. Bran or corn flakes with toast and orange juice. I would have thought that as it is listed as a B&B and for the price we were paying that some meats, cheeses and boiled eggs should have been included. This was the only thing that soured our experience.
All of the staff were very attentive and helpful with any queries that we might have had. Making reservations with recommended restaurants and giving us helpful advice on what to see and do. On our arrival to Charlottetown our plane landed an hour late but one of our hosts stayed and waited to greet us. The hotel is not staffed during the night and we had been told how to get in if no one was there, but our hostess decided to wait to see if we were going to arrive. It was most appreciated.
All in all the hotel is a good place to stay for couples looking for a convenient small hotel in the heart of Charlottetown.
