My boyfriend and I met at this B&B for a romantic weekend rendez-vous. At first I was concerned because the the exterior of the house & its sign were looking a bit worse for wear, but as soon as we were inside, Maria made us right at home. The interior is elegant and welcoming. Our room The Alexander Park Suite was just right for us, with electric fireplace and four-poster bed. We noted that some of the other rooms were not en suite, so recommend double-checking this point when booking. As we were the only guests staying that weekend, and the temperatures were cold, we did not access the lovely-looking screened verandah overlooking the expansive front lawn or some of the larger formal rooms. We did have full access to the TV / Library room, which was a little worn, but enjoyed making use of its DVD player and of the kitchen's butler's pantry. There was a small fridge upstairs by our room for the drinks & snacks we brought ourselves. We enjoyed wine in our room and Maria booked a table for us at a very nice restaurant, Mezzo, on Saturday night.

Breakfast was the highlight - fresh fruit, cheese omlette with Canadian ham and cinnamon-raisin french toast with blueberry compote and bacon to name just a part of what was whipped up for us each morning. The settings were formal but the feeling very relaxed. We especially enjoyed the B&B's location on the riverfront, as Windsor has several lovely walkways, parks and gardens along the river, which we made use of each day. Just a short drive from the city centre, the Tunnel and Ambassador Bridge and 15 mins drive from Windsor Airport, this was the perfect location for us to meet and unwind.

My wife grew up in Windsor, she was familiar with the old house. While searching for an apartment for her parents, she came across the house, now renovated and operating as a B&B. On moving day, my wife booked a room for us to stay. Initially I was a little apprehensive thinking that we would be kicking around an old house during a snowstorm. To my pleasant surprise, the house was outstanding. Our room was tucked upstairs, with a fireplace, shower, and seating area. Even during the windy storm that night, I felt no cold drafts, and could not hear the howling wind outside. We felt as if we had escaped from the outside world. And the wireless internet worked flawlessly. The next morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, and home-fries with scones and home baked goods. We even drew the hostess into a conversation about the history of the place, and the extensive renovations that she had completed to modernize the house yet still retaining its original 1800's design. Fascinating! I highly recommend the Windsor Inn. Bottom line: Maria and her staff did more than everything to make our stay as wonderful as possible.

This was a last minute trip out of the states. The hostess was wonderful. They were getting ready for a family party and showed up to our room. It was a beautiful room, nice bathroom,,, Just like a picture from a movie or hollywood. This was our first stay at a B&B and didnt know what to expect. Well I will never stay at an over price hotel again. We meet wonderful new people from 2 countries and another couple from the states. It was so relaxing I would love to return today. The river view and park just down the way was to die for. I dont know where the first person that posted got there info but I would advise you to stay and not look any futher. Don't believe everything you read, this in one of Windsor's best...kept... secrets. I needed to get away, but I only had two nights, and I didn't want to spend most of it trying to get somewhere. Windsor Inn on the River was close enough, but removed far enough away from my environment, to consider it a get away. The place is old but very, very well kept, everything was so neat and clean, it looks like something out of a movie or a picture. I can add this to one of my best experiences. The hostess Shannon was great! I was there during the week, so it was just she and I, and she made me feel welcome from day one. I could be here all day singing the praises of this place, you just have to go there and see it for yourself. I will definitely be going back as soon as I can.
