We've been going to Caesar's Windsor ever since they built this property. Back before Harrah's and Caesar's came in, it was the absolute best in town. We won at the slots consistently and the incentives were great. But not any more.
First of all, I am absolutely SHOCKED that they supposedly won some sort of "best casino buffet" award. Their roast beef is like leather, the servers act like you're a total bother, and we have actually watched the bread bakers eating crumbs off the counter. Unbelievable. If they want to see what a real buffet is like, they should travel to Motor City.
The hotel room menu is very poor. Hope you're not hungry after 11 pm because the menu is very sparse. And don't order anything that's supposed to be hot because by the time it gets to you, it is only lukewarm. The rooms are OK, nothing fabulous. We've stayed there many times and each time we ask for a suite and every single time get the excuse at check-in that all the suites are gone. Rooms come with a tiny fridge. It would be extremely helpful if they provided a microwave. We stayed on one of the higher floors one time that didn't even have an ice machine. We had to get on the elevator with our ice bucket and go to a different floor to get ice. Unacceptable! Registration is a nightmare -- plan on a long confusing walk to get to the registration desk.
Ever since Harrah's came in, the slot machines are tightened up beyond belief. If we win enough to just keep playing for a while, it's a miracle. Lately they've been giving away a lot of incentives, but are they worth it? Is it justifiable for us to go there and spend hundreds of dollars if we're going to go home with a gift of a couple of pillows? Really now.
They've installed drink request buttons right on the slot machines, which is good, provided you're willing to sit there and wait for your drink. Slot attendants are generally helpful, although you'll run into one once in a while that feels you're a bother and doesn't have time to answer questions.
Security force is very visible, which is comforting. We've seen them in action a few times for various reasons, and they responded well. They also have a medical team, which we have also seen.
The casino is non-smoking (per Ontario law), and there are various outdoor smoking areas (heated in the winter).
We tend to go there every so often because it's much less crowded than the Detroit casinos, it's non-smoking, and we at least get free rooms (although in all the years we've been going there, not once have they given us a suite). Wish some competition would come in that wouldn't be so stingy with slot payouts.
