“Going down hill fast”

We've been going to Caesar's Windsor ever since they built this property. Back before Harrah's and Caesar's came in, it was the absolute best in town. We won at the slots consistently and the incentives were great. But not any more.

First of all, I am absolutely SHOCKED that they supposedly won some sort of "best casino buffet" award. Their roast beef is like leather, the servers act like you're a total bother, and we have actually watched the bread bakers eating crumbs off the counter. Unbelievable. If they want to see what a real buffet is like, they should travel to Motor City.

The hotel room menu is very poor. Hope you're not hungry after 11 pm because the menu is very sparse. And don't order anything that's supposed to be hot because by the time it gets to you, it is only lukewarm. The rooms are OK, nothing fabulous. We've stayed there many times and each time we ask for a suite and every single time get the excuse at check-in that all the suites are gone. Rooms come with a tiny fridge. It would be extremely helpful if they provided a microwave. We stayed on one of the higher floors one time that didn't even have an ice machine. We had to get on the elevator with our ice bucket and go to a different floor to get ice. Unacceptable! Registration is a nightmare -- plan on a long confusing walk to get to the registration desk.

Ever since Harrah's came in, the slot machines are tightened up beyond belief. If we win enough to just keep playing for a while, it's a miracle. Lately they've been giving away a lot of incentives, but are they worth it? Is it justifiable for us to go there and spend hundreds of dollars if we're going to go home with a gift of a couple of pillows? Really now.

They've installed drink request buttons right on the slot machines, which is good, provided you're willing to sit there and wait for your drink. Slot attendants are generally helpful, although you'll run into one once in a while that feels you're a bother and doesn't have time to answer questions.

Security force is very visible, which is comforting. We've seen them in action a few times for various reasons, and they responded well. They also have a medical team, which we have also seen.

The casino is non-smoking (per Ontario law), and there are various outdoor smoking areas (heated in the winter).

We tend to go there every so often because it's much less crowded than the Detroit casinos, it's non-smoking, and we at least get free rooms (although in all the years we've been going there, not once have they given us a suite). Wish some competition would come in that wouldn't be so stingy with slot payouts.

Room Tip: Forum Tower rooms are older, but closer to the casino. Augustus Tower is new, but a mile walk away.

“All Casino, not much of a hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

PROS:
1. Clean
2. Easy access to the casino
3. Food in Nero's and the cafe was well prepared and tasty.
4. Room was clean and always tidied in the morning when we left for breakfast.
5. Staff was polite and helpful in both the hotel and the casino.

CONS:
1. Parking garage is across the street from the casino. You have to walk through the parking garage, through the casino and then attempt to find the check-in desk.
2. The $30+ buffet isn't worth it. More like $15 would be acceptable.
3. The cafe style restaurant by the casino is noisy and wouldn't seat us for a bedtime snack of toast. Apparently nobody knew how to make it or they must have been out of bread. We had to leave the hotel (through the casino....through the parking garage....... find the car......ARGH. Then we drove around Windsor looking for a place to grab a quick little snack. Tim Horton's seemed to serve the purpose and it was only 10 minutes away.
4. Smoking areas are not heated like other casinos or were not turned on.
5. One of the restaurants, by the check-in counter said it opened at 7am - 11pm. It wasn't open at all when we were there. But the sign stating it was open stood there the whole time.

All in all, if you just want to go and play in the casino it's fine. Just don't set your sights too high for a hotel with a bunch of amenities. IT AIN'T VEGAS!

Room Tip: All rooms are in the towers and require some time to get to the casino.

“Worst experience ever”

I went to Caesars Windsor on Christmas Day, I wanted to start a new tradition with my family.
The casino was nice and clean we had a suite which was nice. But my biggest complaint is in a 5 1/2 hour period I had 1 Beer and 2 mixed drinks. I asked the security guard where can I go have a cigar he escorted me to my room told me I can not use any of the resorts facilities until 8:00 am. I wasn't drunk or even a slight buzz. I stayed there to be a responsible adult I'm a firefighter and my fiancee is a sheriff deputy so I consider us responsible adults. We were treated mean like little children. I'm getting Married in Las Vegas in July and I don't think I would consider a Harrah's property again. I made a complaint to the Hotel manager and she claim's it is a security problem. I showed the manager $3000 in cash which I was planning on spending in the casino win or lose it didn't matter to me.I also had 2 diamond club members with me who closed their wallets for the embarrassment we all went thru.

“Good Overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Very clean rooms, excellent overall atmosphere, casino etc. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Only disappointment is lack of wireless internet in the bottom 17 or so floors in the Forum Tower; only wired internet access. With the popularity of tablet computers, iPads etc this is very surprising. Not a huge issue, however for the price of the rooms and Caesars's desire to be a higher end hotel, the lack of wireless coverage directly in a quarter or so of their rooms is disappointing. I was not told this on booking, nor did the desk clerk offer another room when checking in (told me to use the wireless in the common areas). Hallway noise also quite loud at times during the night; though is a casino so not overly surprising.

Room Tip: Avoid lower 15 floors or so in Forum Tower if want wireless internet

“Nice but a little expensive for rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

stayed there for a weekend. The hotel is very nice and we had a room overlooking the detroit river. The windows were dirty and that took away from the view abit. The bed was very comfortable and the room was a good size. The bathroom was nice with seperate glass shower and tub.I think the room is a little overpriced as our family got a room with shuttle at a close hotel for allot less. I think they should offer more specials especially when there was no shows .The casino was very nice and the buffett was great. We stayed in the Augusta tower.
