“Good Stay at an Economy Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

I was rather apprehensive about this Travelodge given all the really negative comments. However, my wife and grand kids checked in at about 8pm on Wed night, the eve of the Packer-Lions Game. The place was fairly busy, with lots of football revellers and younger (20ish) individuals who obviously Casino goers. Rating which we gave was relative to "every hotel in the world." But from a more pragmatic point of view, this was priced at $67 per night, and we would say that it is a 2 or possibly a 3 star hotel. Compared this way, we can say it was Very good. Hotel was fairly clean (two exceptions noted below). Staff was friendly, internet worked, pool clean and not used, breakfast was acceptable and filling and parking was available. Hotel is older but Travelodge needs to improve their housekeeping services. Two issues, toilet needed a good clean (stained but cleanable) and the seemed to have been crumbs in one of the beds. Since we had two youngsters and only noticed this at 10pm, we slept on top of the top sheet. We could have notified the front desk, however, the pain was not worth it. Also, given how the hotel responds to every negative comment, they would have simply ... thank you for the comments ... etc... In any case, I would stay at this place again. It is not the Ritz Carleton nor the Four Seasons, but we only paid $67 plus tax. Overall, I was satisfied.

Room Tip: Check the beds before you sleep in it

“Terrible Hotel - Manager even worse...bedbugs, no internet and rude employees to add salt to your wound”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

The night I went to check in my flight was delayed so I showed up late at night, when i went into my room I found out my internet was not working. Being too tired to bother that night I went to bed. The fallowing morning I called the front desk just to be told I need to call techsupport myself.after an hour of troubleshooting it was evident the problem laid with the hotels network setup...I then was brought cables which I had to install myself. The staff was so unhelpfull they wouldn`t give me or techsupport permission to test the problem in other areas of the hotel (wasting countless hours of my time.)

Then after the internet fiasco I was very upset, I went to speak to the manager whom informed me ``I don`t give a d*mn who you call I don`t care`` I was mad and stormed off saying I would call corporate office. The next day I went out to breakfast and then returned to find out the deactivated both my keys (which they claimed got demagnetized by my cellphone-impossible as the cards were in my wallet the entire time.)

Day 3 (my final day thankfully) I woke up having an asthma attack and covered in bedbug bites. Thankfully it was my last day as I was told policy is to NOT transfer customers to other rooms so to prevent the spread of bedbugs.

All in all a horrible experience, this hotel isnt far from hotel carter in NYC, this hotel is not suitable for any sort of travel, I would have had equal service at a 10$/night hostel. This hotel was worse than any place I stayed in Central America, so it isn`t just not up to par with American standards but not up to par ANYWHERE in my opinion.

“Won't go back”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

I would recommend a "pre-check" before signing your contract - the room was dirty. The heat would not work. The phone appeared smashed or stepped on, once I could manage to get it to work to call the front desk, they would not answer. The hotel is party central for university kids and I believe management leaves the hotel in such poor condition because it knows students only use and abuse. We left in the middle of the night.

“Great location but a bit run down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We stayed here since we had tickets at Caesars Windsor. It is a great location as you can walk to Caesars and located right downtown. This hotel is a bit run down with small minor flaws in the rooms and hallways. It is also a party central hotel with the university kids on weekends. I was impressed by the front desk and they tried to keep the students on their own floors. For the price I paid, I can't complain for a location close to Caesars. It is a good basic hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a non-student floor if you are not a partier.

“Pleasant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

No frills hotel, good pool, decent breakfast. Perhaps best aspect is its superb view of Detroit, esp at evening. Remember to ask for a river view when booking.
