Used Trip Advisor to choose this hotel and booked online for about $115/night and stayed in Sept 11. I was underwhelmed with it based on the comments here. I requested a quiet room and was given a room on the first floor (131). It was quiet - and this is a good thing - but it didn't smell fresh (my spouse thought there was some residual smoke smell in the non-smoking room - could have been just stale air since there is no fan) and was in need of an update. The room layout was pretty typical with a (slightly noisy) fridge and 30 inch TV at the foot of the double beds. First the good: the hotel is convenient to much of what you'd want to access in town, beside the tunnel to the US, clean, with free wi-fi, free parking (covered and not), free local calls, in-room temp controls (the usual level of sound of these), blue-box in the room, there was a bench and a luggage rack for our bags, and everything worked (except for some signal issues with the TV).
What I didn't like - the room was dated and old (but housekeeping does a great job of cleaning), there was no fan in the bathroom, the bathroom door is in the way of the sink/ closet area and is very badly planned, there is nowhere to hang your hand towels, no counter space for toiletries (a pet peeve for me), the beds are very uncomfortable (too hard for me), and the room was dimly lit (I couldn't even open the windows for light because I was on the ground floor).
The 'continental breakfast' was pretty spare. We went at 9am on Sunday morning to find that they were 'running low' - one butter pack, one cream cheese pack, 3 bagels, one apple, 2/3 cereals were out, there was no coffee. My spouse went to ask about it at the front desk... they added a few more fridge-cold mini-croissants, brewed some coffee, and put out some more cups. About 20 people showed up after us... not sure how they fared. The tables were never cleaned, and nothing else was filled. The second day was only a little better. I just bought coffees from McDonald's next door. I think a full breakfast there (if you are early) would have 3 cereals with milk, orange/ apple juice, some white bread for toast, bagels, butter, honey, peanut butter, and cream cheese packs, a few grocery store mini bread-croissants, mini-cinnamon rolls and mini-muffins. Below average for this sort of establishment.
I rate for value, and I have to say that the Windsor hotel I stayed in a few months ago had a much better room and better experience all around - so better value for about the same $$. I'd rate this about a 2.6
