“Rare gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2011

We are frequent visitors to Toronto for business combined with pleasure. This trip we decided to try a bed and breakfast. When I saw our room with a large canopy bed and fireplace and a huge bay window I just wanted to stay and relax after our long drive. My husband needed to eat and our host had recommended several places to dine, the closest being an English pub which turned out to be excellent, with a huge choice of menu for all sizes of appeties and tastes and fun service. For dinner the other two nights we went to the local French Bistro just a block away. Again excellent food with a great atmosphere. On our last night we indulged ourselves in their wine cellar as it was only a short walk back to the bed and breakfast and not have to worry about driving after a few glasses. We had parked our car for the duration of our stay, across from the house, a bargain at $10 per day with unlimited in and out priveliges.
We took great advantage of the guest kitchen. My husband likes his first coffee of the morning at 5.30 am and his breakfast at 8 am. The host set up the coffee for 5.30 am so my husband was happy and nobody else was disturbed.
The breakfast was delicious. The fresh croissants are hot out of the oven and with the home made whiskey marmalade it is just the thing to get one started in the morning.
While my husband attended to business I was free to shop in the fab boutiques in Yorkville. Many of the guests we met were regular visitors who had made the house their base when in Toronto while on business or for the Arts. With my husbands new work which involves a lot of travel I look forward to our next stay at the Admiral Saint George.

“Can't wait to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2011

Stayed here 5 days with travelling companion. We had large room with two beds, and lots of windows. Easy access on foot to Casa Loma Museum and Shoe Museum. Great breakfasts in charming breakfast room. We did"nt have a car but the few minutes walk to the subway gave us access to CN Tower, Science Center and Eaton Centre. Very helpful host with lots of maps and travel guides and advice on where to eat.

“unsettled”

We were absolutely astonished at how rude the owner was. So much so that we believed he was joking at first. The fact that he did not "feel like" fixing a broken doorknob that left a hole (doorknob-size) in the door (and left the door without a knob and lock-free) was perplexing. But the inappropriate comments that followed tipped the experience into bizzarre. His behaviour stands out as the most un-called-for I have witnessed in 24 yrs of working in the service industry and of frequenting restaurants, b&b's, etc. Unsettling. As a side-note, the room smelled musty and a layer of dust was visible on the bed-frame but had the service been nice or even borderline normal I would not have bothered to review it or even mention it here.

“Great value and location. A good, no frills, cheap place to stay in T.O.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

Stay here often for business and pleasure. I find the hosts very accomodating with arrival times. If you let them know what time you are arriving, they will have keys taped to the front door for you. Advertised as a 3 minute walk to St. George Subway station. It's closer to a 15-20 min walk, but it's a beautiful old neighbourhood and those 15 minutes will take you to the Subway station or the trendy Bloor St. area of the city.
Rooms are cozy and comfortable, breakfast is continental serve yourself, and the hosts are friendly. Relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable place to stay if you're looking for something simple and not too extravagent. And the prices can't be beat!
