My wife and I relocated to Toronto this year (2011), and had the pleasure of staying at Cozy Suites for a month in August/Sept. while we searched for a permanent home. We chose the Inn after reading the many positive reviews here on TripAdvisor, so we’d like to chime in with our own two thumbs-up.
We stayed in the “Hollywood North” suite, a small bachelor. It has a comfortable living room – couch, coffee table (doubles as a dining table), chair, desk, modern kitchen with gas stove, small fridge, queen bed in an alcove, bathroom with tub/shower. Each suite is decorated in a different theme—ours had great photos of classic movie stars. There is a TV, DVD player (with a collection of DVDs), air conditioner and gas fireplace. A maid comes in twice weekly to clean and bring fresh towels; she changes the bedsheets once a week.
Deb, the owner, is a terrific host, very personable, always there to help with directions or general Toronto advice, yet remaining discreet. On our first day, she stocked the kitchen with fresh fruit, bread & butter, jam, juice, coffee, tea, and yummy homemade banana bread--everything you need for a first breakfast.
Deb keeps the suite and the grounds immaculate – and we’re picky! At the rear, next to the Inn’s parking lot there’s a fenced private patio with table, sunshade and comfy chairs, a BBQ, lots of plants and a fountain. Very relaxing after a day on the town.
The Inn is on a busy street, and our suite faced the front, but most people won’t find this an issue. We’re both hypersensitive to sound, yet were able to sleep well.
The Inn is located the “north Beach” area, which is far from the urban jungle, yet the transit connections downtown are easy and frequent. Local grocery (Loblaws), liquor store, gas, drugstore are a 10 minute walk away. You can be downtown in about 30 minutes, transferring from bus-to-subway.
It’s very pleasant to walk the area, which is safe – lots of families and schools, quiet, leafy streets, well-kept homes. It takes maybe 20 minutes at a leisurely pace to ease on down to the Beach area, with the many cafes, pubs, restaurants and stores along Queen St. East, not to mention the streetcar. A little lower, and you’re at the long boardwalk along lake Ontario. A great way to start the day. Or end it!
We’d stay at the Cozy Suites Inn again without a second thought, and would recommend it to our own friends and family. We’re very well acquainted with the array of temporary accomodations in Toronto, having stayed in several on various trips until discovering Cozy Suites. In our opinion, anyone looking for clean, comfortable, safe and reasonably priced accomodation in Toronto can do no better.
