“Friendly, Warm Atmosphere...but the turkey bacon has got to go!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed at this hotel for 8 nights while working in Toronto. Ambience works to make it seem more than just a hotel room for extended stay(which I think is the whole idea behind this concept!) We had a two bedroom suite with a living room and kitchen area. Really liked the working fireplace (gas)in the living room. Nice to sit and have a drink after a day at work. Each bedroom was self-contained with its own bathroom and tv so you could get away from your co-worker if desired. Kitchen was fully equipped but we rarely used it except for the fridge and micro wave. We left a list of grocery items with the front desk and it appeared the same day. The cost of items appeared on room bill. There was no extra charge for shopping.

The free breakfast at first seemed great! But as the days wore on seemed repetitive and industrial. NO ONE, I REPEAT, NO ONE ate the turkey bacon. This stuff was GOD AWFUL! As I sat and watched a busy breakfast room for 8 days people stayed away from the turkey bacon. Oh my kingdom for real bacon......One day I was all excited, looked like a version of eggs florentine,,,,I even had it out of the chaffing dish, practically on my plate...and then I saw it , hiding under the eggs and spinache...turkey bacon! I think the breakfast staff even realized it was a hard sell so they tried to trick us into eating it...SHAME!

Another positive note was the free shuttle to/from the airport.

“Where are the mirrors?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Booked this hotel very last minute in new years eve when we had mire house guests than expected. My partner and I opted to sleep here for the night after a priceline deal.

We checked in late after New Years Eve celebrations and Mercedes at the Frobt Desk was friendly and very genuine in her approach. She was definately a highlight.

The rooms decor was fine... Just not to my taste, a bit old fashioned. It was very clean!

The original room we were assigned had an alarm if some kind going off inside a locked closet, but this was quickly remedied with a call to the Front Desk and a new room.

My main fault with this hotel is how the room was laid out. I had to go to work early thenext day whereas my partner did not. The sink and ONLY mirror in the entire room us right off the bedroom with no separation between it and the bed. Not wanting to wake my partner by turning on the light, I was forced to shave and get ready for work without a mirror. Once at work I checked to make sure my tie was on straight and that my hair didn't have a cowlick!

Other than a sock on the floor outside the elevators as I was leaving and the police officers posted in the lobby (I'm sure as a precaution for new years and not a mainstay) this hotel was fine. But if management reads this... Put a mirror somewhere else in the room or separate the bedroom from the sink portion of the washroom with a door!

Dear Aquariusshark: Thank you for sharing your experience. I have discussed your concern with the upper management regarding the additional mirror. Mercedes at our Guest Services Department was excited to hear your nice comment about her and yes, we normally arranged for Police Officers for New Year's Eve for precautionary purpose.

“Great All-Around Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I don't think I could find a single negative thing to say about this property. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms were large and clean (love having a full kitchen in my room!), the beds and pull-out sofa were very comfy, the free breakfast was good (and the staff were really friendly and helpful), and the hotel was conveniently located (close to highways and right next to the airport). I would definitely recommend this hotel!

“My best airport hotel stay at YYZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We were on the way home from Europe and arrived at Pearson airport on New Year's Eve. Instead of pushing on with connecting flights, we looked for a place that could comfortably accommodate our group of five adults. A two bedroom, two bathroom suite, with sofa bed did the trick nicely.

From the shuttle bus transfer to check-in to breakfast the next morning, everything went well. The hotel has excellent staff, is very clean and was utterly quiet and comfortable.

We ordered a pizza and drank duty-free champagne using the cutlery and glasses provided.

Breakfast on New Year's day was pleasant enough, and the shuttle ride back to YYZ was equally comfortable.

Compared to the older hotels that are closer to YYZ, this Residence Inn wins out on value, comfort and service.
