A Warm and Friendly Welcome and don’t miss the breakfast. 213 Carleton Street in the upcoming district of Cabbage town is a real delight and gem in a city full of hotels and self-catering suites. There are 7 bedrooms, in this spacious town house all retaining their delightful period features. All the rooms are clean and well appointed and while facilities are shared rather than en suite it is never a problem.
Tan is a welcoming, attentive and informative host. Always happy to help and advise. His breakfasts are legendary. Sitting together around his kitchen table sharing tales with other guests while enjoying his superb granola, yoghurt and fresh fruit, followed by either the scrambled eggs or omelette, both of which are cooked to perfection is a great start to any travellers day.
Extra bonuses at this sensible and realistically priced B & B include use of a fridge, free wi-fi and a phone for local calls. Some rooms even have an outside balcony for those balmy summer evenings.
A street car stop is just outside and it is walking distance to the down town area. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and ATM’s on nearby Parliament Street as well as a bus route.

Our host Tan is the king-pin of 213 Carlton Toronto Townhouse, he did everything possible to ensure our stay was comfortable and successful.
We stayed in 2 rooms both with high ceilings and comfortable beds, one at the front (Peaches & Dreams) and one at the back with a small balcony(Balcony).
The location is quiet with easy access to downtown Toronto by cab or streetcar(stop almost directly outside!).
The highlight was Tan's breakfasts. We stayed long enough to sample all his cooked breakfasts eggs scrambled-poached-cheese & ham omlete and pancakes with fruit and maple syrup........all to be recomended and very difficult to choose a favourite. Also a bowl of fresh fruit with delicious granola and yogurt every morning plus toast, tea or coffee. Tan also got in a supply of de-caffeinated coffee for me.
I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and interesting conversation around the breakfast table each morning.......a perfect start to each day.
I would definitely stay here again when I visit Toronto and also I also recommend 213 to my friends.

In the middle of a stressful 6-day business trip, nothing could have been more comforting than coming back every day to this warm and inviting bed and breakfast, which really took the edge off of a hectic week. My rear balcony room was super bright, nicely appointed (lovely sleigh bed...and the mini-fridge was a blessing), very quiet and very conducive to getting work done; looking out over the garden and the neighborhood townhouses added a bit of flavor as well. The shared bathroom was large and clean and I never had to compete for the use of it during my week's stay. Tan is a remarkable host, good humored and cordial. He went out of his way to fulfill my special requests. The icing on the cake is that he makes the best, most satisfying breakfast of any b & b I've stayed in--omelettes, pancakes, french toast, home-made granola and yogurt--depending on the day. The clientele is a very friendly and interesting mix of straight and gay couples and singles, and the breakfast conversation was always congenial, without being overly intrusive. I also liked the no-shoes policy (leaving shoes at the bottom of the staircase), which added to the hanging-at-home ambiance. My only caveat was that the location was a bit further flung from the Yonge and College Street metro than I had expected....the trolley gets you there in minutes but it's much more of shlep to the main business arteries than I had imagined (3 blocks in Toronto are much, much longer than 3 blocks in New York City). That said, the Townhouse was head and shoulders above my Toronto stays at 4 star business hotels, in terms of personal attention, food and warmth.

From the moment I was asked to remove my shoes at the front door, I knew there would be a great deal of care taken in my visit. Hosts Tan and Frank run a beautiful B&B in a convenient location and care for their guests very well. The house is decorated very nicely, all furnishings comfortable. The shared bathroom set-up is nice, in that a 'powder room' style toilet is available if the main bathroom is in use. The breakfasts simply can't be beat, and you're treated to the talents of a former executive chef, Tan, who makes perfect food every time. The other guests in the B&B were friendly, interesting people who were great conversationalists and shared good local information about places to see and shop. A streetcar runs frequently past this location, meaning you can get moving quickly to your destination, but for those who prefer to walk, you're still centrally located and can easily get to a number of attractions and parts of the downtown area. If you're looking for an experience that's a step above standard B&B at a great price, make reservations here!
