This hotel is in a good location for people who need to use transit to get around. The sherbourne station is about 2 blocks north, and there is also a bus stop right outside heading south on sherbourne st. There is a restaurant downstairs (which I didn't try), and plenty of stores around for those who need to buy supplies (shopper's drug mart and a market across the street). There is a sub sandwich place across the street as well, and more restaurants closer to sherbourne station.
First off, this a budget-oriented hotel so don't expect anything fancy. The location is what makes this place a good value. Wireless Internet is available for free in the lobby. If you want to use it in the room, I believe you need to pay extra.
There is one elevator in the hotel. It can fit 4 slim people, or one person and their luggage. It is the tiniest elevator I've ever seen. But since the traffic wasn't high in this hotel during my stay, it was never a problem. I seldom ran into anyone else whenever I used it. There is also a stairwell that people can use if they are claustrophobic.
As far as I know, there were no amenities like swimming pool or fitness room.
Breakfast was included, and adds slightly to the value of this hotel. Again, don't expect anything elaborate. You'll get juice, cereal, bread with jam or butter, mini croissants, muffins and apples/bananas.
The room was decent and comfortable. There was a small old TV to watch. It was fine for me, but those who are looking for a lavish room with a large screen LCD will not find that here. My room was also equipped with adjustable air conditioning and it worked well, but my room got a bit dry. My lips started cracking after a day or 2. For me, the only negative about the room was that the washroom was cramped - the shower was spacious, but the toilet bowl was directly in front of the sink - when I sat down on the toilet, I was looking directly at the side of the sink a few inches from my face. Still, the room was cozy, housekeeping was good, and location was great. I would use it again.
