“The Isabella Hotel is great value for the money - clean, convenient, friendly staff, highly recommendede.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

My partner and I went on a Jazz Safari (five shows in one evening) with Jaymz Bee of Jazz FM. We were coming from Port Burwell, ON (just south of Tillsonburg) and wanted an inexpensive but pleasant place to stay. And, we found it in the Isabella Hotel.
We stayed in a standard room in the tower, which was small in terms of what most people expect in accommodation, but actually larger than our own bedroom. It was very clean, had excellent in room coffee (supposedly available only in regular rooms and suites), staff was friendly and helpful, a nice continental breakfast, and nearby parking for a small fee.
Only one small drawback - the elevator was tiny and since I am a bit claustrophobic, we chose to use the stairs to our third floor room.
The subway was one block away and we were able to get to our first club in Liberty Village easily.
With parking, it was around $100 for the day.

“Good location and value for budget oriented travelers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

This hotel is in a good location for people who need to use transit to get around. The sherbourne station is about 2 blocks north, and there is also a bus stop right outside heading south on sherbourne st. There is a restaurant downstairs (which I didn't try), and plenty of stores around for those who need to buy supplies (shopper's drug mart and a market across the street). There is a sub sandwich place across the street as well, and more restaurants closer to sherbourne station.
First off, this a budget-oriented hotel so don't expect anything fancy. The location is what makes this place a good value. Wireless Internet is available for free in the lobby. If you want to use it in the room, I believe you need to pay extra.
There is one elevator in the hotel. It can fit 4 slim people, or one person and their luggage. It is the tiniest elevator I've ever seen. But since the traffic wasn't high in this hotel during my stay, it was never a problem. I seldom ran into anyone else whenever I used it. There is also a stairwell that people can use if they are claustrophobic.
As far as I know, there were no amenities like swimming pool or fitness room.
Breakfast was included, and adds slightly to the value of this hotel. Again, don't expect anything elaborate. You'll get juice, cereal, bread with jam or butter, mini croissants, muffins and apples/bananas.
The room was decent and comfortable. There was a small old TV to watch. It was fine for me, but those who are looking for a lavish room with a large screen LCD will not find that here. My room was also equipped with adjustable air conditioning and it worked well, but my room got a bit dry. My lips started cracking after a day or 2. For me, the only negative about the room was that the washroom was cramped - the shower was spacious, but the toilet bowl was directly in front of the sink - when I sat down on the toilet, I was looking directly at the side of the sink a few inches from my face. Still, the room was cozy, housekeeping was good, and location was great. I would use it again.

“It is what it says it is - a 2 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

Spent 2 nights here and it's value for money. The area isn't the best and isn't in the centre but it's not that far away. Once you get your head around the fact that you are in a main city, it's quoted as being a 2 star and that's what you get. For somewhere to put your stuff, put your head down for the night and has basic amenities, (TV, hairdryer and decent shower) it's fine. If your happy with basic, then I recommend. If you want anymore than that then go somewhere else and pay more. It's what a 2 star hotel is so can't complain.

“Won't stay again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

Stayed one night, didn't sleep a wink because there was constant, incessant NOISE from the street until 5am...dogs barking, loud traffic, louder drunks. Bed was uncomfortable and sagged, reddish stains on edge of mattress and on boxspring (hoping it wasn't bedbugs). Room very tiny, only given two pillows, both way past prime. One bath towel for a double occupancy room???? Garbage under the bed..Parking $15 and not in the safest of neighbourhoods... I don't think we'll be staying again..thanks anyway :(
