I stayed at the Gloucester Square Inn in the "Rundle Mansion" for two nights in September 2007. I stayed in the "Tina Turner Suite" at a rate of $389.00 per night including taxes which was a discounted rate I was told from the normal asking price. The decor was at best right out of a bad episode of "Trading Spaces". The room was so dreary and depressing, with a mixture of mismatched furniture which included some reproduction furniture, to ikea leftovers and some rattan. The bed was like sleeping on a concrete slab. It was definitely an afterthought. The room was very large and sparse. The bathroom had a whirlpool tub with shower, but no shower curtain, so I had to constantly dry up water that splashed out onto the floor after each shower. The first morning, there was no hot water for 15-20 minutes. I was able to get a look into some other rooms which were much smaller, but seemed to be better decorated. The breakfast, which was served in the "Gallow Mansion" consisted of what seemed to be a slection of "day old" pastries, fruit, cereal (mostly kids types..fruit loops, etc-adults don't eat that kind of cereal) and very bad coffee with milk only..there was no coffee cream. To be honest, I was quite surprised to see that Cawthra Square (one of the three buildings) was listed on "The World's Foremost Gay & Lesbian Hotels". I have stayed at a few of the other hotels from this site in Fort Lauderdale, Provincetown and Palm Springs. Gloucester Inn comes nowhere near these places in decor, atmosphere and customer service. I would recommend you pass on this establish, unless you ask to see what you are paying before before you agree to check in. Tina Turner would certainly cringe if she saw the suite named in her honour.
