We stayed here for our first two nights in Canada. We had been seduced by promotional material promising excellent service in an heritage hotel. Never have we been more disappointed. We can honestly say this was probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in in all our years of travelling.
We should have read the visitors' book as soon as we arrived. It was full of negative comments but, surprisingly, was still left out on view. Our list of complaints was long but this is a ghost hotel; there is no one around to complain to. At breakfast there was no service. A man glued to a computer in the kitchen told us they had run out of bread, juice and cereal. None was found by the next day. The phone system in the rooms didn't work. They wouldn't call a taxi for us 'in case it didn't turn up'. Smoke detectors hung off the ceiling without batteries. The list is endless.
Our booking agents have refunded our money because they were so horrified and they are attempting to now get money back from the management (although there didn't appear to be any!)
Fortunately in the rest of our month long stay in Canada we never experienced anything else like this. It's a great country. Just don't spoil it by going to this hotel.
