Most hostels either have that really sterile feeling or the really 'cosy' feeling - by cosy I mean small, dark and dirty. Canadiana has neither - its exactly what you expect when you hear hostel.

Large dorm rooms, no wiggling between beds here. Lots of storage space (good when you have a lot of luggage), and a big shared space (was a little awkward layout wise though - kitchen downstairs - tables upstairs). Free pancake brekkie, and the odd free dinner was also a bonus. I met some lovely people here, and took the discounted Niagara Falls tour offered which was good value. I would most definately stay here again. Did I mention the location is perfect!

We stayed 2 nights. As other reviews have said, it's in a pretty unbeatable location. I found that it was pretty run-down compared with most places we stayed, especially the bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen wasn't particularly well-equipped either. My bed was very old and saggy and a bit uncomfortable. The other common areas were great though, and it is a very social place with a friendly atmosphere. Breakfast is another big plus! Overall it was a good hostel but not outstanding.

Just great location, needs more bathrooms but clean

I stayed here in September 2011 for 4 nights. I was in a six bed dorm which was basic but clean. Bed was comfy. Lockers were not big enough for backpacks so all our stuff was on the floor, they are fine for handbags/valuables though. Bathrooms are individual with shower & toilet in the same room which I liked. There was always hot water when I wanted a shower and I rarely had to wait. Atmosphere is very friendly and I found it easy to talk to people, it's one of the most warm, sociable places that I've stayed at. Front desk staff were all excellent and so helpful. They will give you a free map of Toronto- don't buy one! I went on the Niagara Falls day trip which was fantastic value, definitely a must do if you're in Toronto. It was one of my favourite experiences of my whole trip.

The hostel runs a variety of activities such as wine and cheese tasting, movie nights, pub crawls which are popular and cheap. You can also get discounted tickets for the CN Tower and other attractions. The location is great, in the middle of the entertainment district, and public transport is easily accessible. The airport express bus stops less than 5 minutes away.
Wi-fi is strong and reliable.

This wasn't the most high-tech hostel that I stayed in but it's definitely the one that I have the fondest memories of.
