My Husband and I booked a night at 1871 Historic House Bed and Breakfast. They had advertised that it was an old house that had been restored and decorated with antiques. Having stayed at many Bed and Breakfasts we expected it would reflect what was advertised. To our surprise it was quite the contrary. The outside of the house looked like it needed repair. The paint on the trim was pealing and there was no sign indicating it was a Bed and Breakfast. The girl who met us at the door was not particularly warm or inviting. We had chosen to stay in a Bed and Breakfast because they tend to be more romantic in their decorating. Our room was on the lower level of the house. When we decended the stairs the ceiling was so low that my husband hit his head. The hall leading to the room had other odd pieces of furniture and a cot in it just sitting out. The room we were shown to looked like the furniture might have been bought at a garage sale. It certainly wasn't antique. The bedding had seen better days and was not the normal fussy bedding that you usually find in a Bed and Breakfast. The only other seat in the bedroom was a wire chair that sat in the corner. The window had no curtains, just a picture set on the window sill that partially covered the window. They rented the upstairs to a music studio and singing could be heard quite clearly in the room. My husband and I asked to see another room that was more expensive. The Hostess indicated that that room was taken. The third room was in the coach house and was quite a bit more expensive. The Hostess showing us the room said that the coach house room hadn't been cleaned yet and she hadn't left time in her schedule to really do the cleaning. We expressed that we were unhappy. We were told that she would rather have us leave then try to make any effort to make us happy. We did leave and looked for other accomodations. Beware.
