“Total Nightmare”

We stayed here in August of 2006, I know the title says 2010, but no 2006 available. The hotel was a disaster. When we pulled up to the hotel, the place was located in the ghetto. They said parking wasnt a problem, but you had to park in an old apartment parking garage 2 blocks away. Not great when youre walking in a freaking ghetto. Which brings me to a scary story. My dad was walking back to the hotel when he was ran at by some guy with a needle. Turns out this guy escaped the hospital and couldnt find his way back, which is close to the hotel. When we got in our rooms, they were TINY. There was garbage and dirt all over the place, as well as old matches and cigarette butt burns on the counter tops. The shower i couldnt touch. It had hair all in it and there was mildew or some kind of growing mess in there. Location? Cant beat it! If you love Tram cars coming in and out at 4 in the morning! Our view was spectacular! We got a view of a graffiti filled sign with profanity on them. The hotel staff was rediculous, the guy working spoke very little english and was playing nintendo DS instead of working...? The hotel tells you that youre minutes in walking distance to the CN tower and rogers centre. DONT BE FOOLED. You need to take a 10 min trolley ride. A total dump. I would never return if my life was on the line.

“I would never recommend this hotel to anyone”

The hotel smells like stale smoke. The room was not clean, there was hair on the bathroom floor and mold in the garbage. The rooms are very small and I refused to take off my shoes. It is unclean and the staff are unfriendly. Also, the area of town is shady. I was chased just outside of the hotel by some random guy. This place is not safe. I expected someone to barge into the room in the middle of the night or see people walking away with video cameras and lights from shooting a "film" in the next room.
Awful. I'd rather sleep in my car.

“STAY AWAY AT ALL COST.....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2011

Truly the worst hotel experience of my life.. and I travel quite a bit.
My friends and I booked this hotel for 5 nights (what a BAAAD choice). Located in the ghetto of Toronto.

Whether you book last minute or in advance, it is non-refundable or exchangeable.. not surprising because once you get there you will want to leave.

The bed sheets had stains (big ones) and the bath had hair all around. ALL the rooms smelt of smoke, even the non smoking ones. Everything about this hotel is filthy and false, there is a big sign that says breakfast is between 0730-1100 and when we came down after a sleepless night due to someone breaking into the room at 0230. And the noise coming from the bus station located directly behind the hotel. The manager told us breakfast finishes at 10:00.

We complained to the manager about the state of the room and he said "this is a non-refundable room, may be try and find another hotel" and that is what we did. The manager is very arrogant and unhelpful. After only one night here we checked out and booked into Novotel on the other side of town.

“Sage Advice from Distress Traveller-- Aviod Lakeshore HOJO”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2011

Dear Sir//Mam,
Please post this on your website to help other Travellers.
HOJO at 14 Roncesvalles Ave Toronto, ON M6R 2K3
This is a Really Terrible place to live. Please watch out for the following.
Rude hotel staff, extremely dirty carpet (check carpet color INSIDE the ROOM versus OUTSIDE the room). Outside the room the carpet is clean, but inside the room the carpet is stained with black shoe and feces marks (never washed!!!).
The comforter and the sheet underneath had the stains when I asked for the new comforter, i was given sheets in exchange. The size of their pillow is the size of the Diameter of your Head!!! That’s it.
There is a stain going from the side of the mattress all the way to the edge of the bed all the way to the carpet. Patches of these stains were on the carpet.
DO NOT trust the size of the rooms you see in a picture or photo. The ROOMS are Extremely TINY!!!
Online advertisement will talk about in room safe. There is NO SAFE.
Online advertisement will describe clean shower. I found pubic hair on the hair drier!!. When I brought to the attention of the staff, they did NOTHING.
Area where the hotel is located is very dangerous. Please be careful with you possessions.
There was NO fitness center. NO Parking facility, NO SAFETY DEPOSITE BOX, No CYCLING!!!
There is CONTINOUS LOUD NOISE from the Street Car (similar to light rail/Tram) ALL DAY and NIGHT.

It is really a terrible hotel please STAY AWAY because for a $10.00 difference they will rip you off saying "WE DID NOT PUT THE ADVERTISEMENT, the websites did. Complaint to the website not to us"
Sincerely
Distressed Traveler who lived at HOJO 14 Roncesvalles Ave Toronto, ON M6R 2K3 and became sick upon reaching home.

Room Tip: They charge the same room rates so why choose them

Truly the worst hotel experience of my life.. and I travel quite a bit.

If you book in advance, it is non-refundable or exchangeable.. not surprising because once you get there you will want to leave.

Located in the ghetto of Toronto, I had 2 seperate groups of people outside my room threatening to kill each other in the middle of the day. Very, very noisy with the streetcar station being located directly behind it.

NO parking at hotel. Closest parking is two blocks away and the hotel still charges you $12 per day for it.

Room was not cleaned properly. There was hair in the tub and the bed. There was also a wet rag in the drawer of the night table.

Terrible customer service, I waited 65 minutes to check out of my room because they had 1 staff member working who was very slow.

Finally (this may just be coincidence), I developed a lung infection while in Toronto. It wouldn't really surprise me if it was because of this hotel. Should be called the Hobo, not the Hojo.

I have never written a hotel review before, but felt this one necessary because it is that bad.
