Check in was quick, friendly and efficient. The room was spacious and clean - appeared to have been recently updated. I was in room 540 - it was very quiet except for the occasional humming from what I figured was the nearby elevator. The hotel is structured in an open square - so the rooms look into an exterior courtyard. Nice floor to ceiling windows across the room. The bathroom had black granite counters, Kohler faucets and wood accents. The bath/shower combo had a nice rainfall shower head, good water pressure and was spotless - tiles were actually gleaming! The room had a small bar fridge which was handy. There was a small cafe in the lobby that served Starbucks coffee and you could get a coffee "to go" for $2. I ordered room service for breakfast on this visit - and as I am allergic to certain fruit, I specified this on the menu, thinking I would be left with a banana...well to my great pleasure I was treated to a beautiful bowl of blueberries and strawberries along with my hot oatmeal. How wonderful. The service arrived in the time specified and my stay here was pretty much perfect. I checked out through the main desk as my breakfast charge did not appear on my invoice which was slid under the door in the morning. Check out was quick and very friendly. I was able to leave the hotel through an entrance in the main lobby that links directly with the TTC subway below. 6 short stops to Union Station. As a little sidebar - in one of the bedside tables, there was a very interesting little book that contained stories from Marriott employees. It was very interesting to learn of the beginnings of this company and how it expanded with a bit of insight from employees. Thank you Marriott Bloor Yorkville.
