A good Holiday Inn property next to the Bloor Station and across the University and within 5 minutes of shopping area which is like the Fifth Avenue of Toronto. Comfortable big rooms, helpfull staff and a nice bar with good music. I had a scare though when a very old lady who seemed to be lost, got into the elevator and walked into my room which coincidentally had a lock malfunctioning and the hotel staff was fixing it with the door open. They thought the lady was my relative and fortunately I was returning to the room to pick up something so avoided a big problem. On raising an alarm, the reception tried talking to the lady who spoke a foreign language and left the hotel before the police could come. I wonder if such instances are avoidable.
Room Tip: Higher floors might be better

Thank you for posting your experience with us here on Tripadvisor. We are glad that you enjoyed most of your stay with us, and also the surrounding area. Being next to Yorkville and the subway is great for our guests. The incident which occured should not have happened, and is completely avoidable. The floor staff is not supposed to let guests into the rooms, if a guest is missing their key than photo ID is required to obtain a new one. We are very happy this a worse situation was avoided. This incident has been forwarded to all staff, along with an updated hotel policy regarding entry to rooms, this situation will be avoided in the future. Thank you again for bringing this important issue to our attention. We hope that you will choose to stay with us again during your next visit to Toronto.
