“Decent hotel- Fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed for x6 nights and to be honest no real issues with the hotel . As previously mentioned the location is great, although probably a 20-25 min walk to yonge and dundas square, but a great location for the cn tower , theatres and a great selection of bars and restaurants close by.
Rooms cleaned daily although personally I felt they could have been done to a higher standard (plastic coke bottle under bed when we arrived and a little bit of dust built up in room, but nothing major)
We also ordered room service a couple of times which was very good however it was also very pricey as well
All in all I would recommend this hotel for it's location, modern rooms with great views of the city.

“Great Location Downtown!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I stayed at the hotel for three nights while I was at a conference. The hotel has a great atmosphere and welcoming staff who are there to please. Good food in the restaurant and there is a starbucks just off the lobby which is very convenient.

Everything you need is within a few blocks which means you have some of the cities best restaurants to choose from (you must try Nota Bene on Queen).

The only thing I have to complain about was the bed. It was so soft that when I woke up in the morning, I was in the bed, literally! I would definately recommend some new mattresses.

Other than that PERFECT STAY!

“Eh... Old hotel in a decent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My company booked conference space and a block of rooms for a North American meeting. I haven't stayed in a Hyatt in many years. I'm more of a Marriott and Hilton person. With that being said, I won't be staying in a Hyatt again unless it's done for me.

The room's carpet was old and felt old. The bathroom looked as if a college sophomore had just cleaned it. It wasn't pleasant. Know when you keep thinking about a bathroom? This is what this was like.

The gym was decent. Had views of buildings and newer equipment. Small for my taste, but average in the world of chain hotels. At least the gym was clean.

The restaurant bar just wasn't nice. It was lit in an interesting, sterile fashion and didn't really make you want to hang out.

I wouldn't stay here again.

“'Questionable' policy at the Hyatt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012
2
people found this review helpful

Upon arriving at the Hyatt via the parking garage elevator, we were greeted by 'Jose' (according to his name tag) who stopped us and informed us he could not allow us any further into the hotel with the amount of alcohol we were carrying - 15 cans of beer.

My first impression was that Jose was messing with us but once more we were stopped wih a raised hand and a statement about 'a policy against excessive alcohol'. ??

We asked him why there was no mention of this in the terms and conditions attached to our reservation and there wasn't a reply. My guess is that this was Jose's 'policy' and not necessarily the Hyatt's.

Either way it left a bad taste in our mouths and would advise guests carrying anything more than a six-pack to conceal the remainder of the booze. Isn't this why people book a hotel in the first place? To not monitor the level of consumption since you don't have to drive??

They are also slightly misleading about the pool - it is only seasonal, closed in the winter months (no mention of this on any of the promo materials). There is also no free wi-fi at this hotel - seems sub-standard for the Hyatt line of hotels.

Good luck!

“Helpful desk staff, room could've been cleaner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012 via mobile

We got a great deal on Priceline for this hotel. Best thing about this hotel is the location and the front desk staff. The decor is a bit weird, and our room needed a serious vacuuming and dusting. But, when we mentioned it to the desk staff the comped our parking ($30), a nice touch.
