“Convenient, Clean and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

Arriving at INDEX B&B from Toronto airport by rental car was a challenge, but we made it with the help of a good map and written instructions provided by Holly. We were somewhat taken aback by the streets & buildings around it - not our usual scene at all - and by the bars at the doorway, but once inside we were delighted. It was spotlessly clean, polished wood floors, good security, very comfy bed (firm) and plenty of room for computer, (free WiFi) bags etc. The bathroom was small but quite adequate except for my usual gripe of towel rails too small for two bath towels, and having them hanging over the toilet is really not a good place for them.
There was as usual in Canada a duvet on the bed, which was too hot, so removed duvet from the cover and thus had the equivalent of three sheets, which was fine for the first night. I then requested a blanket which was provided and perfect for the September weather. Not sure how it would be in summer or winter for heating or cooling. Only issue was that the B&B was on the corner of a very busy street and outside our room was a very bright street light. We slept well once we held the somewhat skimpy curtains together with a peg to shut out the light. The noise level increased early in the morning as buses accelerated when they rounded the corner but with double glazing we found it not a problem, but if you wanted to open the windows then it could be.
The breakfast was taken in the art gallery on the ground floor, at small tables. We had lovely fresh fruit juice, choice of cereal, toasts, yoghurts, milks and fruit. One morning we were given home-made muffins - and they were very nice indeed.
We found two good restaurants nearby, so did not need the car which was parked in the carpark behind the B&B. The tramcar directly into the centre of Toronto was at the end of the street and went by every 10 minutes or so during the day. It was an easy exit by car to drive to Niagara for the day, and then out of the city when leaving for Ottawa.
We would quite happily recommend INDEXG B&B as a convenient, clean and comfortable place to stay, with an excellent breakfast. Don't be put off by the surroundings.

We found this b&b by chance while searching for a place to stay in Toronto. We didn't know anything about this side of town (Queen West) and lucked out from beginning to end. The rooms are as you see on their website. Very clean! Notes are left everywhere by the owners, Holly and KS Lee, so we knew where to leave used mugs, how to work the water filter to get hot water, etc The only time we had any contact with them was during breakfast at the gallery and when we needed more toilet paper :-) We had a very relaxing stay. Their location was perfect as they are close to streetcars and buses (you can pick up a Day Pass for CAN$10 per person at the Gladstone Hotel at the corner of Gladstone and Queen West) and there are plenty of shops and really good restaurants within walking distance. Their website is very informative and it helped us plan our stay. Holly recommended the Hoof Cafe on Dundas (which we got to try on their last day as a brunch cafe) and that started our memorable food adventure in the city. We will definitely stay there again when we go back.

“Simply Lovely”

My husband and I stayed here for a few days and it was just as it was described. Accommodations are clean, simple and modern; this was just what we were looking for in a B&B. The gallery and breakfast were a nice added touch. We loved the location which was close to the artsy and hip area of town; there are plenty of shops and restaurants in walking distance. The owners are lovely people and made our stay enjoyable. We will be back next time we are in Toronto.

“Perfect”

I spent 5 days in Toronto with my husband. We stayed at the Indexg B&B during our stay. Our experience was nothing but perfect. Rooms are accurate, clean and charming. The location is very good even if you haven't a car because streetcars and buses are just round the corner. The neighborood is very nice: the district hosts several art galleries. Even the ground floor of the Indexg b&b is an exposition gallery. Guests can have breakfast right in the gallery, taste the homemade breads or muffins and enjoy the company of the owners that are nice and friendly.

“A great place to stay in Toronto”

I spent two weeks at this bed and breakfast and would highly recommend it. The owners are lovely people and the room was perfect. The room was small but comfortable and very clean. The bed was also very comfortable. The decor and photographs on the walls added charm. I hope I will get to stay here again.
