While in Sudbury for a conference held on site at the Holiday Inn I decided to grab a quick workout before supper on my first day there. The gym is a bit small but passable (luckily I had it to myself). The problem was the tub in the room. It appeared to have no slip strips in it but I quickly found out those were simply cosmetic. I lost my footing and broke my fall with my right hand causing me to have to wear a split for a week or so. When I checked the surface oft he tub I found it to be as slick as ice. I advised the front desk the next morning and provided information to the manager so I hope the issue has been remedied.

The hotel is really quite nice. It has been added onto many times and so it can be a bit confusing to navigate.

I stay at all the Holiday Inn Hotels, but when I stayed at the one in Sudbury, it was like I was staying at a place of history. It is an older hotel, but the staff and the experience makes up for it.
From the time I arrived to the time I left the staff made sure we felt we were like family. The new renovations are beautiful and I was even asked on my opinion on what colour I would choose for the new carpets.

I love it when they ask the guests for our ideas.

The room has been remodeled but I didn't like how it has a door in the room to the outside. The building is dated but the room was fine. My key was acting up and the maintenance man was on it immediately and had it working shortly.

This hotel really isn't worth the regular rate. Charging upwards of $130 a night means that there should be better upkeep. The shower ceiling was peeling paint. The carpets were old and stained. The elevators are old with broken numbers. Even the pool/sauna/whirlpool area that I praised so much in my last review could have really used a good cleaning this time. The change-room for the pool was old , the lockers dirty and the shower/sink could use some work. Also, there is no typical Holiday Inn continental breakfast. It's still a good hotel, but not worth more than $95/night anymore (until they do some maintenance!).
