Love this place! My husband and I stay here at least once a year. If we're lucky, twice. We have visited in every season and on each visit everything has exceeded our expectations! The staff is very welcoming and makes you feel very appreciated and will bend over backward to help meet your needs. The breakfast at Tango restaurant (located downstairs from the Inn-same owners) is awesome. Bring an appetite because the $20 voucher more then covers the bill. Just remember to tip the waitstaff!!! The tip is not included with the voucher.... The guest rooms are both roomy and cozy at the same time. Lots of natural light from the huge windows and great black out blinds if you choose to sleep in a little (or a lot)! The rooms are also sound proof. The only problem might be people coming in late and chatting a little loud in the hall way to their room. Other then that, it's nice and quiet. The beds are comfy and the rooms are nicely decorated with local artists creations on the walls. Another nice touch, is the library in each room featuring Canadian writers and the CD collection also featuring Cdn artists! There is a mini coffee maker, and a mini fridge that is stocked with water bottles and a plate of cookies and apples to much on while you watch a movie on the TV/DVD player. They also have a large inventory of DVDs that you can borrow from, free of charge and if you can't find one there that you want to watch, there is a Roger's Video down the street where you can rent from. When you're done with the movies, they will return them to Rogers for you. How's that for service?! I honestly can't think of anything negative to say about this place other then there isn't an elevator, so if that is an issue for you, it might not be the best place for you to stay. If it's not a problem, then this is a great central location, right next to the Avon River that has a nice paved path that circles around it with plenty of benches and picnic tables to rest on (or eat lunch). There, you can rent paddle boats and canoes, in the warmer months, by the hour and explore the river while getting a bit of exercise and don't forget to bring some bread for the swans and ducks who will swim along side of you. You can also try your hand at fishing in the river. Quite a popular activity in the morning by the bridge! There is also a beautiful floral garden/park to visit next to the river. If you are in town to see some of the fabulous live theater at the Festival Hall , you can walk from Mercer Hall Inn to the path (across the street and behind the Inn), that runs along the Avon River and take a nice leisurely stroll. This weekend, there was an "Art in the Park" show that featured paintings, pottery, wood carvings/bowls etc, silver jewelry and other neat artsy stuff. If you like to shop, there are plenty of shops to browse in and if you like to eat, there are tons of restaurants to choose from. You can't beat the coffee and breakfast deal at Tango though. It's a great way to kick start your day after a nice sleep upstairs, at the Mercer Hall Inn. I just got back today, but can't wait to visit again!!
