I recently experienced the Stewart House Inn for the first time. It is an "Above and Beyond" Bed and Breakfast!! From the moment we arrived Marc and the staff made us feel welcome and special. The decor is only surpassed by the meals and both are spectacular! Everyone is pleasant, helpful and over-the-top accommodating! We had a wonderful time and I will definitely be back! What a glorious inn, a place that I have stayed at year after year. Marc, Lynn, and Mary have made this a very special part of my Stratford Festival stay. The inn is a beautiful old mansion that has been restored to its original glory plus creature comforts well beyond expectations. Not only are you treated to comfortable lodging in your room of choice - the recently and beautifully renovated West Indies was my room this year - but you are treated to coffee and tea service delivered to your room each morning; a delicious, full breakfast served poolside and shared with other guests; and access to and use of the parlour, ballroom, porches. And, ohhhh the pool! A refreshing swim in the heat of the day in a pool large enough to accommodate a swim provides a most relaxing interlude. The turn down service with a sweet treat left in your room makes for a treasured finish to the day .

The people who make this all possible are as important as the physical surroundings in which you find yourself. Marc, Mary, Lynn, and the staff (which includes two sweet schnauzers!) anticipate your every need or desire, go beyond accommodating those desires. You will be very pampered when you stay at Stewart House, and you will feel like you are staying with old friends.

Stewart House Inn is a lovely facility in a large house originally built in the 1870s on a beautiful large lot. Six or seven rooms are available, all decorated differently and tastefully. See the website for pictures and descriptions. Stratford is a charming town and is ideal for lots of walking. Three of the four theaters at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival are within easy walking distance. The fourth is a longer walk, although it also has ample parking if you prefer to drive. Good restaurants abound both in Stratford and in nearby towns too. It is also easy to walk to the good restaurants in Stratford and the out-of-town choices involve short drives.

The manager/owner of the Inn is an experienced hotelier and has been at a variety of first-rate hotels of many different sizes. He has the natural ability to make every guest feel as if the Inn is open primarily and specifically for him/her/them. His associates, both senior and junior, are intent on providing whatever services guests desire. They do so very well and quite unobtrusively. Everyone involved in providing service at the Inn is friendly, which helps create a wonderful atmosphere.

Interesting and delicious breakfasts are served every morning, usually outside on a large patio next to a very nice swimming pool.

Beautifully appointed rooms in an elegant home, delicious food, and courteous, attentive, friendly service -- Stewart House has it all and keeps getting better. Marc, Mary and the staff help make our Stratford trip the highlight of our year. We've been guests for seven years and can't imagine staying anywhere else!
