“Not bad for a one night stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We stayed here New Years Eve and were part of group booking for a wedding. The hotel was quite full due to two wedding bookings and the usual New Years Eve demand, so there was quite a bit of activity but surprisingly it wasn't too noisy.

The rooms are quite dated and not as "pretty" as they appear on their website but they are quite adequate and clean to stay in. We stayed on the second floor and I'm not sure if our room was smoking or non smoking but as non-smokers, we did not find it to be smoky anywhere other than the staircases. The bed was comfortable and was clean along with the bathroom, but the overall furniture and fixtures could use some updates. The TV is old school and was really loud no matter how much we tried to adjust the volume. The biggest flaw to the rooms is the lack of light. There is no overhead light and the lamps are very low wattage so you either have to have the curtains completely open where anyone has the chance to see in (no sheers) or have extremely dim lighting. I would say this would be our biggest complaint as that would be the cheapest and easiest thing for them to fix.

Staff was friendly and provided a quick check, but should suggest to guests the easiest way to their room as the hallways and staircases were a little confusing to navigate and there are no elevators. Having the IHOP attached was a huge bonus for us and nice little treat in the morning.

I’ve stayed in some similar hotels in the States where I slept with socks, sweatpants and a hoodie on, not wanting any of my skin touching the bed, but this was certainly not the case here and I had a nice peaceful sleep. This isn’t my first choice in hotels but for a one nighter for an out of town event, it certainly makes do and fits the budget. I'd stay again.

Room Tip: I would suggest the top floor so you don't have to worry about noises from above and a room roun...

“Not helpful and unfriendly, never return”

They offer business services that do not even work. I had to fax some important papers and I was unable to do so from there business centre. I also made reservations and they did not honor this, even tho I am a choice member, they also offer late check out which is not completely true, they still want you out no later than noon and that is at every hotel they book. The employees are questionable and not helpful. Don't get fooled by the two night stay and get the second night free (that is only good to redeem at selective hotels) usually the less inexpensive areas. Oh and the catch is you must stay two different nights (must read the fine print) Not sure if I will keep my membership with these chains of hotels.

“Adequate Place to Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Booked a room here about 6 months in advance of a trip to Niagara Falls during Canada Day/July 4th weekend to avoid the Niagara Falls crowds and breaking the budget. Chose the Comfort Inn because of the location right off of the QEW and nearby shopping choices (a drugstore, restaurants, and a shopping center are nearby). When we arrived, we were a bit taken aback as on the way to our room we were treated to a hot smoky corridor, sounds of a crying baby and a barking dog*, before arriving at the stairs to go to the 2nd floor (there are no elevators). The 2nd floor corridor was cooler & there was no smoke odor ...and it was very quiet! So first impressions aren't always the best to rely on ;)

*As an aside - pets ARE allowed, so I have no problem with the barking dog (or crying baby) as I've had both - was just an interesting/unusual/noisy experience upon entering a hotel for the first time ;)

The room was a bit dated but was adequate. The room was clean as was the bathroom & the person on duty at the front desk was helpful. The air conditioning unit functioned well, and we had no problems adjusting the temperature for optimum comfort.

So to summarize our experience -

Pros:

- Good location (drugstore is a few hundred meters away)
- On-site IHOP restaurant (we did not have opportunity to make use of it)
- Clean room & adequate towels/toiletries

Cons:

- Dated linens/carpets (which I did find overly bothersome)
- No elevator for folks that have a lot of luggage, etc (we did not)

All in all, if I was in the area again, I would not have a problem staying at this property again, as it met the need for a clean, quiet place to sleep after a full day of sightseeing.

Room Tip: 2nd floor appears to be quieter - remembering that there is no elevator for guests.

“Clean and Quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2011

Stayed 1 night on our way down to Niagara Falls. Hotel was a "Top Secret Hotel" at Hotwire, so I got a good price for the room. It is a 2 storey building, with smoking rooms/2 double beds on the ground frloor and non-smoking/1 queen on the second. Because of the way I booked, I didn't have a choice but ended up with my preference - 1 queen.. Room was large with a pull-out sofa as well as the bed.

Good water pressure in the shower and an abundance of towels. Some other reviewers commented about the size of the television - not sure why they were disappointed, the TV was not enormous but perfectly viewable. Granted it wasn't a 52 inch but it worked fine for both of us.

There were a lot of guests but I was surprised there was very little noise. Tea and coffee available in the lobby, newpapers and a lot of tourist info. Front desk staff were very accommodating.

The hotel is attached to an IHOP, which used to be a Golden Griddle. Breakfast was good but service was very slow.

There is a Bunsmaster Bakery behind the hotel that serves coffee and a variety of baked goods.

“Great location for the Niagara wine Festival”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We choose this hotel for its price but also its location. We were going to the Niagara wine festival and the "wine show" part was in St Catharines at a park minutes away. Also this hotel was just off the QEW and in between vineland and Niagara-on-the-lake.
Its close to everything!

Staffe was great! we arrived late andd she had everything ready, we were in our room in 2 minutes... For the continental breakfast, the staff was really on top of the coffee, juices and whatnot.

The Continental breakfast was basic but good. Still a great start to the day. But i do agree that one additional toaster would not hurt! lol (Just be patient that's all)
