My wife and I stayed here 4 nights for our honeymoon. We stayed in the yellow (romantic) room. I haven't really stayed at many bed and breakfasts but I'll probably start doing it more if they're all like this.
Even before our visit, Maria was great at communicating with us over e-mail. We were running late for check in so we called and she was very accommodating even though it was her birthday! She even had a bottle of wine and a cheese and fruit plate waiting for us in the room. (Well, first she asked if we wanted red or white wine; then she put it in the room while we were unloading the car.) I think my favorite thing is when she basically told us there were no rules or curfews; we could just come and go as we pleased.
The room had a huge comfy King-size bed, a desk with chair, a couch, a comfy chair, a fridge, a tv (old) and a closet. The bathroom was really nice and clean with a double jacuzzi tub and a beautiful stained glass lighted picture. There is no shower, but there is a hosed sprayer in the tub for washing and rinsing. And I wasn't expecting it, but there was free wifi. Bonus!
Maria asked us what time we wanted breakfast and so we decided 9 o'clock would be good. Every morning at 9 she had a fruit salad, juice, and coffee set out beautifully for us at a little table. There was also yogurt, pecan pie, bread, jam, butter, etc. Then once we finished our fruit, the main course would come out. Everyday was something different but equally delicious. Omelettes, Belgian waffles, mushroom "concoction", it was all delicious.
Sadar (sp?) who also lives/works with Maria was very friendly the whole time. He gave a whole bag of ice when we needed it and even printed out a map for us when we were going out to ride our bikes on the HUB trail (which I recommend to see Sault Ste. Marie).
There are lots of great places to eat and drink within walking distance. Just ask Maria or check out Trip Advisor restaurants.
The reviews are right! This is a great place to stay in Sault Ste. Marie!
