“Best night sleep ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

I was greeted by the friendliest front desk clerk who was very accommodating in my last minute request to upgrade to a whirlpool room.
I found the Hotel to be very clean and quiet, having the Mall across the street was very handy.
The parking garage was a blessing as it was pouring rain on the second day.
Upon check out I mentioned how new and comfortable the rooms felt. We were told that the Travel Lodge just finished renovating with all new furniture and the most comfortable pillow-top beds I have ever encountered. I will be back again and recommend to all my colleagues.

“Avoid if possible”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2010

Lots of people come to this area for the train tours. Lots of seniors on budgets. Choose wisely though as you can certainly get more value at other hotels in the city. This place is an odd mishmash of good and very bad. Parking is good. Rooms are dated and the two we had were smelly of either BO or smoke. Smoking rooms exisit mixed in with non-smoking rooms. the elevator empties onto the back of table and chairs of the little breakfast nook on the main floor. I felt bad for the people sitting there trying to have some breakfast. We had hot tub rooms but they are just old jacuzzi tubs in the washroom. the place would be fine at half the price but unreasonable at the rack rate. There is no business center available but there is a computer with a printer in the lobby nook that you have to buy time on with your credit card. Printing is extra at 40 cents per page. I actually laughed when I saw this...Such a basic service that even the most questionable chains offer for free. I was told that their chain is not big enough to have a free computer and printer for guest use. So weird.
Our carpets needed a good cleaning and may have been the cause of the smelliness.

Dear Travel Fox, I am extremely confused by your review and I wish to offer some facts and information in regards to your stay. You had 2 rooms booked, one SMOKING and one Non. I can understand why your room might have had a smoke smell. If your Hotel stay was that horrible, why did you not mention any problems directly to us. The most confusing part is that after you wrote your review, you requested to PROLONG YOUR STAY and additional night? Very strange, you state in your review not to stay here, then you request an additional nights stay with us! In looking at your other reviews of places you have stayed at it shows that all of your reviews are very negative except for one.
I'm sorry you felt you had to trash our Hotel even though you spent an additional night here. This is very confusing at best. We do our utmost to please and accommodate everyone in our business. We were obviously not given that opportunity hence this rebuttal to your review.
I would have appreciated to have been able to discuss or correct any problems that you felt you had instead at the time if given that opportunity. The City CentreTravelodge stands on it's own merits, numerous awards, praise and background. We can't please everyone but given the opportunity, we sure would try.

“An absolute pleasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

This was a very enjoyable stay! The rooms are very clean, comfortable, modern and quiet. The beds are also very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and efficient and the restaurant on site has a great breakfast. The location is wonderful and so close to all the things you might want to do. I definitely would stay again!

“A very nice hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

We just got back from the Agawa Canyon train ride and we stayed at the City Centre. We like the covered. lighted garage and easy parking. The desk people were very nice and helpful. Unlike a previous reviewer, we found plenty to do after 6P. The mall right across the street is open until 9 and the casino is open until 4A. We are older, so the nighlife doesn't matter to us. We had the "train package" from the hotel and they got our train tickets, vouchers for meals on the train, and a $10 each credit at the casino, plus the casino gave you a $5 each credit, so we had $30 to spend at the casino - and we used it all, cashed in the winnings and ate at the casino. It was a wonderful meal presented beautifully. We too, had the room with the hummmm, but it didn't bother us too much. All in all, I thought we had a good value for the money spent. I would stay again. The hotel has a definite European feel to it in that the stairs go at funny angles and you have, almost, half floors. That is the 2nd floor is separated by some stair and the rest of the floor goes in a different direction. Easy once you figure it out. Or take the elevator, no problem

“Wow, Wow, Wow - So happy we stayed here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

Well, my husband and I were driving through the Sault and decided we didn't want to all the way to Thunder Bay, so we stopped in here. I was so shocked that a Travelodge would have such beautiful rooms. Besides being really, really clean, the bed was amazing. So comfy. They have a parking garage, so we could park indoors and that was great because it was raining out. We did have breakfast in the restaurant and were pleasantly suprised there too. We are talking homemade bread. The staff at the Travelodge were so helpful and even called around looking for a place for us to eat because we got in fairly late. I would definatley stay again, the next time I am in the Sault Ste. Marie area.
