“Worst hotel ever”

we had a group that stayed this weekend.. we left early because managemant was rude and crued. She is two faced. and should not be manager. i was advised by other guests who stayed there that she lied to me and told me her name was heather... not impressd. the night manager is also a very rude man. and he wears too much cologne.he is very disresepctful. he lies to everyone. and just like the manager he is two faced. they tell you one thing and do another.
The room was nice.. as clean as it could be, considering how old the building is and the furnature.i was shockd numerous times trying to plug something in. Alot of the plugs are black or dont work. Holes in the walls.
My biggest complaint is about the management . very rude and dont acomidate very well.

Room Tip: dont stay there,.. its disgusting and should be shut down

“Dont stay here in the winter or you'll be sorry!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

people found this review helpful

We have stayed in many hotels over the years for hockey tournaments both 1 and 2 star but this was by far the worst. Our room had a hole around the heater unit that allowed the freezing outside air to rush in. Even with an extra plug in heater we froze all night. We were moved to another room the next night and told we would not be billed for the previous. On check out we were billed!!! Unbelievable. Think twice before coming here in the winter unless you love rooming with 4 other hockey teams and getting no sleep. A grandparent on our team was apparently also stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes so consider yourself warned about this hotel

Room Tip: Do yourselves a favor and go some where else

Hello toomuchtan,
I would like to thank you for your review here on trip advisor. I am however a little confused as to why such a negative review. I was the manager on duty the night that you had the issue with the heating.
We took many steps to insure you were comfortable, providing you with extra blankets, offering you to change rooms, which you did not want to do, even placing blankets around the heater at your suggestion to keep the breeze from coming in. We had maintenance into check the room for you Saturday morning at which point you decided to change to another room which we were more than happy to do for you.
Upon check out you were provided with a 50% discount on the night that you had the issue with the heating. We were under the understanding that this was sufficient compensation since you had decided to remain in the room.
In regards to the grandparent that was in the elevator for 20 minuets, he to was provided with a discount on his stay for the inconvenience however you must understand that we had not planned for the elevator to malfunction and we did have the repairman at the hotel with in 15 minuets of the elevator becoming jammed. Unfortunately situations like these do arise and we take every step to correct the problems as soon as possible when they occur.
If you would like to discuss your concerns further please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Kind regards,
Kris Pye

“Decent Hotel for Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) stayed Friday to Sunday. Older property but was clean enough. Pool area was warm and nice. We all enjoyed the pool slide also. Sauna was also a great incentive.

“Run down but nice staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011 via mobile

I had the pleasure of staying recently. I chose this hotel because they allowed dogs and had a pool. I read the reviews so I was forewarned.

The place is pretty run down. Stained carpets, old furniture, etc. my room was missing a lightbulb in the lamp! It appeared that the room was cleaned prior to our arrival, but that is it.

My wife went to the pool with are daughter. I do believe from her that the pool was acceptable.

I might not have felt bad spending 49 for a night but not 139!

On a positive note all of the staff I met were super nice. They are one of the few things that don't need replacing.

Thevirus,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate the time you took to write it. I am glad that you mostly enjoyed your stay. I was wondering if the matter of the missing light bulb was brought to the attention of the staff. We could have had it replaced for you. Also I would like to take the opportunity to investigate the rate that you say you paid as $139.00 per night is a little high for our standard rooms. Our rates range from $75-$105 per night for standard rooms. If you would care to discuss this more please contact me.

Kind Regards,

Kris

“A Fine Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

I had a fine experience during my two day stay. The building is a bit older with those bit older building quirks, but it only added to the charm. The heated ceramic tyle bathroom floor was worth the price by itself. Great location if you like to wander around on foot to catch the local flavor. Room was clean and non-smoking as requested with minifridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Staff was polite and courteous. The FREE continental breakfast was adequate, not a hot buffet, but if I wanted a hot buffet, I would have found a local restuarant. If I ever travel back to Sarnia, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 222 and had a fine experience.
