“A wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We loved our stay here at Selwyn Shores. The owner, Martha, is a wonderful host and her breakfasts are second to none. The home is lovely with lot's of space for guests. The sun room overlooking the lake is particularly nice. We also enjoyed the dock area and using the canoe provided. It is also very close to Lakefield and Buckhorn so shopping and restaurants are nearby. Martha suggested several restaurants and was only too happy to make reservations for us.
We will definitely stay here again when in the area.

“The best ! B & B we've stayed at in Ontario”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

The moment we stepped inside Selwyn Shores B & B we felt so comfortable! What a beautiful home! It was spotless. Pamphlets are made available to the guests for things to do, where to have dinner. The B & B is on the shores of a pretty little lake in the Kawartha's called Chemong Lake. You can canoe, take a paddle boat, available at the B & B. Our host Martha was so friendly. In the morning Martha cooked an unbelievable breakfast, all homemade.
I would highly recommend Selwyn Shores Waterfront B & B. We had a wonderful time. One night was not enough. We hope to return! Thanks Martha!

“Selwyn Shores Waterfront will be the first B&B we will book when we return to Canada.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

We were made very welcome from the start of our stay. The location is just brilliant for getting away from the hussle. Our room was very comfortable and we slepted like logs. There were hot drink making facilities in the lower lounge area, (also included chilled bottled water), where there were also plenty of varied reading material available.
The lower lounge area lead out onto the lawned garden and pontoon landing area by the Lake, here we found plenty of chair's to relax in and watch the sun set over the Lake.

The breakfast buffet was just outstanding with a varied selection of Martha's home cooking, a different selection was served each day. Martha joins her guests for coffee during breakfast and this really helped all the guests settle in and get to know each other.
Testatment to Martha and Dan's hospitality are the many return visits by previous guests, many who we met during our stay.

Would and have recommended Waterfront to anybody visiting the area.

P.S. Just loved Dan's humurous stories

“Hostess with the mostest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

We B&B a lot, and generally base our experience on the host as much or more than anything else. Martha is congenial, fun, accommodating, resourceful and a genius cook!

She let us change rooms when we realized that the downstairs room gave direct access to the grounds and lake and huge lounge, while the slightly more expensive upstairs rooms in fact were smaller and next to the parking area. We were more than happy to exchange an ensuite for a shared bathroom when this downstairs room meant we could walk out the door to see the sunset, stars or pre-dawn mist on the lake.

Breakfast was to die for. I'm still dreaming about it. But it was the added touches of connecting us with another guest for an impromptu Russian translation and help with fixing our canoe and finding the best spots to put in that put this visit over the top.

We are thinking this might be the perfect spot for an autumn vacation with paddling, or maybe cross-country skiing out the door in the winter! Note to self: find out if they're open year-round....

“Mind blowing perfection!!”

I travel alot and decided to stay at Selwyn Shores Bed and Breakfast as a nice treat to myself, and I was not disappointed. The area itself alone is breath-taking but stepping into that warm welcoming home made me feel very much at home.
I arrived on a Friday April 6th and was welcomed warmly by Martha herself, right away she gave me a tour of all the options in staying with her, then she showed me to my room on the lower level. The room itself is huge and incrediably clean, not to mention the King size bed. I had my own seperate entrance to the beautifully landscaped backyard. Martha then left me to get settled, where I decided to get my pj's on and enjoy the fresh air, where sat comfortably on a chair and watched shooting stars.

Sleeping was a dream....so wonderful and best of all I was refreshed when I awoke the next morning to a wonderful breakfast!!

This is a place I intend to return to every chance I get!! Thank-you so much Martha for welcoming me into your home!!
