Believe Woodals and Trailerlife ratings, not the reports of disgruntled, maybe demanding campers or people expecting plush accomodations. The campground has a rustic natural setting in a treed area - it is not all neatly lined up with manicured landscaping. It does not have alot of amenities, but is convenient to Ottawa for touring or visiting relatives.There was plenty of room for our 37 ft rig and tow car with full hookup, 50 amps. We did not check or use the bathrooms and showers (used our own). The owners/staff we dealt with were very friendly and accomodating, even refunding a nights cost when we decided to leave early when our agenda in Ottawa was completed. It is an average, not plush, campground and we would use it again if in the area.

My wife and I pulled up with our 3 children planning to stay for the July 1st holiday near Ottawa. They accepted cash only, I had none so they offered to let me drop my trailer and go to get cash. I drove into the park to the assigned site... made a quick stop at the "bathrooms" (disgusting and they were just finishing "cleaning" them) drove up to the site to drop the trailer and my wife looked at me and said "We are not staying here" so we turned around and left to look for a campground that had space on a canadian holiday and we ended up at Sleepy Cedars... a beautiful campground 10 minutes from Hither Hills

Stayed 2 nights but by the time we parked and looked around the place it was too late. Showers are something to be desired. Old wooden cubicles with wooden slatted doors and pull chains for the shower above your head with no temp. control, something like the MASH show. Drive thrus. were brutal and mud. The electrical post was broken and held together with tape and was upside down. The sewer in the ground was capped with a 2L pop bottle full of liquid to keep it in the hole. Laundry room was brutal to say the best for it. Good thing we had our own washroom facilities. The WIFI was very good. Grass needed to be cut to help keep the mosquitoes away. Rated by the Good Sam Club, but should not even be on their listing. Will never recommend to others or stay there again.

WOW! where to start.

1. Showers leave much to be desired. all heads are on one central line and there is no control of hot and cold.

2. Washrooms could stand to be cleaned more then once every other day. if that often.

3. Park riles, and there are many, only posted in washrooms not even at office.

4. I used every single piece of cribbing to level the trailer and still didn't get it right, its that bad.

5. Pool leaves much to be desired, no chairs, not cleaned, grass not even trimmed surrounding the pool deck. (big time accident waiting to happen)

6. Not on piece of lawn cut in the entire park.

7. HW sites share one fire ring for 2 or 3 sites.

8. No concept of customer service what so ever.

9. No wireless to speak of unless in HWS sites and not pull troughs. the update regarding extra WiFi antennas is a load.

10. Playground, well lets just say i would rather let my kids play on the 401 than go on that 40 year old death trap.

My wife and i went for 4 nights from the 21st to the 24th and it will be my last time attending this park. although price was good, the value was poor. sites were seriously un-level to say the least. most larger rigs i saw had at least 6 inches of cribbing under the wheels just to bring them close enough to level for the jacks to work. Hydro and water worked for us at least. BUT!!!!! I do not appreciate a septic tank being pumped at the site next to ours at dinner time with out so much as a word of warning from the owners. I understand that service and repairs must be made but at least let your customers know!!! if you are going to use this as a place to stop over for a night or two it is good enough but for any longer go about 5 km south and you will find much greater value and much friendlier people ( willing to help). There are some other things i could say but i think i will leave it at that, i got my point across. To be fair, the price was good for a place to park but not a place to relax and enjoy.

Some grading a couple truck loads of pea gravel and a lawn mower would do wonders for the place but i dont think the owners care anymore.
