I recently stayed for a week at this B&B and Spa and highly recommend it for a peaceful and comfortable stay. All the Ottawa sights are easily walkable from here and you get a good flavour of the city in the various restaurants and stores right around the corner. The hosts are warm, welcoming and knowledgeable people; as well, I met interesting guests every morning at breakfast. Hari is an accomplished photographer, Siri a Yoga instructor and the finest masseuse--do book a massage and facial. I was frantic at the Ottawa hotels' refusal to take pets or charge an outrageous extra amount for a small dog. I was smart to choose Downtown B&B, with a friendly dog walking park across the street and dog-loving hosts (they have two of their own). My room was bright and lovely, the wireless internet a godsend, the bathroom spotless and always filled with towels. The entire house has recently been fitted with new windows, so it's now even brighter and cozier now.

As advertised on the website, the description of the B & B does not correspond completely to reality: the rooms are in an unacceptable condition regarding furnishings and cleaning. The house at dinner time it is permeated with an unbearable smell (the kitchen at my entrance was a mess, with food and dishes everywhere and so it remained throughout the time of my unfortunate stay), the garden (the last of my thoughts) is in a state of disrepair with heaps of unused material next to the house. I was not able to share the breakfast or even take off my shoes (as written on a piece of paper put on the entrance), given the situation. I don't understand all those positive comments, except for the location that is reasonably central (it takes a 30-minute-walk from the Parlamentary Hill and from the Market). I just want to forget this stay.

The hosts are welcoming and provide attentive yet unobtrusive service. They take pride in offering a clean and comfortable room, fresh breakfast and information on how to take in the best that Canada's capital has to offer.
The inside of the home was painted by a local artist, and has all the beautiful architectural features one expects from a century home.
The on-site spa is fantastic and features natural products from a nearby manufacturer; this service must be taken advantage of.
The location is central which means easy access (even walking distance!) to many of the city's attractions.
This is my Ottawa BnB of choice.

Visited this place 10 years ago or so and was a treat to come by and revisit. Hosts are very nice. Cosy in a well maintained century home. On the quiet edge of one of the livelier streets of Ottawa (Elgin)
