After a month-long cottage holiday in eastern Ontario, my family spent the night here before catching our morning flight home to BC. This was the perfect location for my needs. It is a 10 minute drive to the airport without the hassle of unpacking our rental car and dragging everything on a trolly through a hotel lobby. The motel is also a very pleasant drive (about 20 minutes) along the Rideau Canal to downtown Ottawa where we went for dinner and watched the light show at Parliament Hill (there are numerous chain restaurants, such as the Keg, a short drive away on Hunt Club Road).
While close to arterial roads, the property is set back from the road and built around a lovely grove of pine trees with plenty of muskoka chairs waiting for travellers to relax. We had a room with two double beds on the ground floor at the end of the 2 story building. As a bonus, I was able to hang our wet beach towels and bathing suits (from our last swim at the cottage) on the fence next to our unit.
The room itself was basic with a mini-fridge and an older tv. It was very clean (perhaps smelling a bit too much of disinfectant). The A/C worked and quickly cooled the room. We borrowed an iron and board from the office. The motel appeared full, but we heard no noise over at night. In the morning, the office had free newspapers, coffee and pastries. The service was friendly: the receptionist gave me a map of Ottawa with directions downtown.
