We spent 13 nights at the Byward Bed and Breakfast and we couldn't wish for more!
The location is perfect, in the heart of the city, 3 minutes walking to the market. The room was very clean and the owner, Wendy is the sweetest person we ever met.
I really recommend this place to anyone travelling in Ottawa!

I hate to expose this fabulous B & B because the next time I want to stay there it will be booked up. The location is the most convenient for tourist / travellers to Ottawa because its only minutes walking to the top attractions. At the top of the block is the National Art Gallery and on the next corner is Notre Dam Cathedral. The Rideau Canal locks are a block away and the Parliament buildings are within three or four blocks. The Byward Market is a couple blocks away with great restaurants and shopping. I left my car for four days in the parking lot behind the Cathedral for $6 a day over the week-end and the attendant looks after the B & B customers' cars. The comfy rooms have en suite for privacy & there is a balcony to relax on & watch the world go by when you're taking a break. Its a friendly place where you can enjoy breakfast conversation with other travellers and you won't go hungry. A great hide-a -way for a visit to Ottawa and the Inn Keeper, Wendy, is glad to have you.

This is a truly lovely properly in an all-star location, on a somehow-quiet residential street a couple minutes north of the Byward Market. We walked everywhere from this place, even the Civilization Museum over the river in Gatineau was accessible by foot. The house itself is very nice, with lovel wood flooring and a large open space downstairs and two good-sized rooms upstairs. The balcony was a nice touch.

There are a couple flaws here. For one, there was no maid service. I love coming back to a made-up room after a day out, and we didn't like that we had to make our own beds. Next, there is no one on staff - the hostess, a lovely lady named Wendy, does not stay on the premises. This is actually fine with me, I don't need doting to (she comes every morning to prepare a nice continental-plus breakfast). But a couple times we did have questions and it would have been helpful to have someone around.

Bottom line, though, this is an excellent choice for staying in Ottawa and I would recommend it to any couple.

What a great bed & breakfast! It was my first time in Ottawa, lots to see and do. Wendy, the owner of Byward Bed & Breakfast, was so helpful. When we asked for advice on where to go, she was great. She even called a few places for us.

Breakfast… wow! No greasy foods here. We woke up to fresh fruit and freshly baked croissants, waffles and tea biscuits! Every morning was something new.

The rooms were very clean, and include a nice little patio to enjoy some tea and relax.

The location – perfect! Far enough away to enjoy a quiet sleep but close enough to walk right down town. I have already recommended this bed & breakfast to friends, and I recommend it to any couple, or friends, looking for a bed & breakfast close to down town Ottawa.
