“VERY OVER-PRICED!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

This hotel is posh and updated, fancy-shmancy etc. But please listen to all the complaints that things are way over-priced at this hotel. It is unbelievable what they charge for even a glass of wine at the bar! (two couples ordered a glass of wine each, 4 glasses cost $58 plus tip!!!) I have eaten at the Perspectives restaurant a few times, and I have had a drink/bite to eat and listened to jazz music in the bar called "Options". Very nice decor, but the excessive cost is not worth the experience. The service is average at best, and has been very poor at Perspectives on occasion. The bathrooms in the lobby area were filthy and dirty this past week when we went to the bar Options. For such a 'classy-looking' hotel, one would expect that toilet seats would be clean...they were not, nor were the sinks.

We have never stayed at the hotel overnight as we live close by -- we have only gone to the hotel for dinner/lunch/brunch and to meet friends. So despite the fact that I cannot speak to the rooms at this hotel, it is not a place that I would recommend to anyone based on my 4-5 visits to the premises...for the prices you pay, there are much better options in the Ottawa area.

Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent experience at Brookstreet. We regret that your visit did not meet up to our standards for service and cleanliness and will evaluate these comments with the management of each of these departments. We do have an extensive wine list selected by our Sommelier and offer wines from just $9 per glass. From Monday through Friday at our Options Jazz Lounge we offer themed food and beverage specials as well from under $10.

“4th stay, same issue”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We have stayed at this hotel over 7 times in the last 3 years. With every reservation, we have asked for non-smoking rooms, and the last 4 visits we have been assigned smoking rooms. Of the 4, three times we had to change rooms into non-smoking, and the 4th time, there werent any other rooms. When I checked in the last visit, I said to the clerk, this is a non-smoking room? and his repsonse was, well, no, but the floor had just been cleaned three days ago and no-one had smoked on it since!!! Otherwise, i enjoy the location and the property!

Thank you kindly for providing us with your recent comments. It is indeed regrettable that we were unable to accommodate your request for a non-smoking room on more than one occasion. Advanced booking does afford a better option to secure your desired request and we will investigate the response that you received as it is not in keeping with our service standards.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I was really excited to stay at this hotel. The pictures looked amazing and once there, the hotel itself lived up to it's perceived splendor. What ruined this experience for me was the impression perhaps realization that I was being fleeced for every little thing. I don't mind spending extra money for a quality item or experience but I really don't like the feeling of spending twice as much for something ordinary. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The hotel staff were rude/cold/unfriendly. I would not stay here again or recommend this hotel.

We appreciate that you shared your comments with us and are most disappointed to hear that our staff was as described. Extensive efforts are made to provide detailed training and guidance for our staff and we seldom—if ever—hear this type of comment. We will review your concerns with the team leaders for our guest services department. There are many packages that we offer that include features such as parking and breakfast and we invite you to select such an option for a future visit to make it more affordable.

“Very Nice but on the Pricy Side.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Very nice hotel with mostly business clients. Very modern decor and relatively new. The lounge seems to be busy on week nights but the restaurant was mostly empty, probably because it was quite expensive according to the menu prices.

The rooms are very nice with a selection of pillows, nice mattresses, flat screen TV, etc. The room has a buch of goodies laying around but be careful, they all cost very inflated prices if you consume them.

Luckily the hotel has underground parkinging (for a fee ofcourse) so you don't have to clean the morning snow off of your car.

There is a nice cafe on the ground floor where you can grab a quick breakfast before your morning meetings.
