In case you cannot tell from the pictures this place seems to have converted two old houses into a hotel. If you are looking for modern hotel this is not the place to go. The hallways are old, and the floors in them squeaked, there was random furniture in the back house's hallway and it all seemed a little dilapidated and gloomy. Like a bed and breakfast without the charm of a bed and breakfast. A coat of warm toned paint and a picture or two could go a long way.
The room itself was OK and suitable for our needs. Spacious, which was really nice. The beds were comfortable and clean. Our room had a bay window (not much of a view though), a fridge, a tv, a couch with coffee table etc. The washroom left something to be desired, they had older features, there was no vent (just a window) and it all seemed run down.
The breakfast is generous. I once stayed in a travelodge where breakfast was oatmeal and rice krispie bars. Not here. They have toast, bagels, jams and cream cheese, little muffins, hard boiled eggs, cereals, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, oj, oatmeal.
We came to visit some of the sites in the city and while you are a little west from the downtown core, you are also not far from the war museum. We enjoyed the walk to the center of the city (about 10-15 min) but it could be a very uncomfortable walk if it is windy and very cold! There is an Albert street bus that stops near the hotel so I'm sure you could jump on it to get closer to the downtown core if it was bitterly cold outside.
* I did not see an elevator at this hotel.
