We stayed over the New Years Eve weekend, and aside from a few details, its a pretty decent hotel.
I booked a deal that got a 3rd night free through the Ottawa tourism website, and booked a room on the club floor (very much worth the extra $25 a night or so). This also got us access to the Club Lounge on the top floor, which had an EXCELLENT continental breakfast, including bagels, porridge, Starbucks coffee, various cheeses and eggs, and cereals. There were also hors d'oeuvres available at 5, with various cheeses, dips, springs rolls and the like. The staff at the club lounge are excellent, very friendly and genuine at the same time.
The rooms are fairly nice, but are starting to show a little bit of wear, and ours offered a view directly into the offices across the street. The king bed actually is a king-sized bed, which is becoming increasingly rare in hotels these days. Unfortunately, the fact that the bed was so comfortable was offset by the fact that the pillows are quite possibly the worst pillows in the history of the world. I cannot stress enough how terrible the pillows were. Definitely bring your own.
The staff are competent and very friendly, and seem genuinely happy doing their job. The same goes for the staff at the restaurant, where the food is pretty good, although a little too expensive.
The parking will cost $25 a night, which is kind of absurd. Its valet only, and calls to the valet an hour ahead of time requesting that my car be brought up at a specific, non-peak time were not properly met.
All in all, its a good, but not great, hotel. But I would stay there again.
Room Tip: Pay a little extra and get a Club Room
