“Great for the Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We were in Ottawa for a Convention and wanted to be very close to downtown so we could park the car securely underground and walk to the Convention Centre. We weren't going to spend hours in the hotel so 'luxury' was not a requirement. We needed two double beds and a place that allowed dogs. This hotel filled the bill. The staff was courteous, there were free papers, the cleaning of the room was great and there are two 24 hour supermarkets within one block and a restaurant (fine though not great) adjacent to the hotel. The room wasn't large but it was quiet (perhaps because Convention delegates were too tired to party). Free internet was a plus since we were both working when in the room. We didn't take the dog but had our daughter in the room.

Room Tip: We were on the 15th floor, perhaps that was why it was quiet. We really couldn't hear the traff...

“Small, noisy, and so not worth it.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

Let me begin with the one and only upside: you are close to everything.

And now the downside: athough there were two double beds in our room, the rooms are really only large enough for 1-2 people. The walls are paper thin, that is, you can hear everything that's going on beyond your room. You're right on Rideau, so the sirens are constantly on the go; in fact, we heard them at least 2-3 times a night (not including the ones you hear in the day).

The mattresses are pretty lumpy, making for a very uncomfortable sleep.

The front desk crew are quite young and not very good at giving directions; they weren't rude, but they weren't friendly either. We had a question for them, but had to make a noise to get someone to come to the front desk; I think they were in the back doing something.

The inclusive hot breakfast wasn't the greatest either as you only get one choice from the menu; there isn't any fresh fruit or cereal and you have to pay for juice. I went to the vending maching to get pop; they were out of diet pop and when I pressed the Dr. Pepper button, it gave me a pepsi.

We come to Ottawa often, but we won't be staying here again.

“Good Stay Downtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I didn't see a lot of the hotel as I arrived later in the evening and left early in the morning on a business trip. Parking for small to mid sized cars is available off of King Edward (east side of the hotel). It is pay parking and you have to get your ticket at a machine that dispenses tickets. I wasn't the one to get the ticket for the company car so I don't know how much it costs. It is indoor parking, which was nice but it's pretty tight. There is an elevator to take you up to the lobby if you don't want to use the stairs.

The lobby was nice and well lit. There was a small sitting area with a fireplace. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The room I had was nice with fairly recent furnishings and a large flat screen t.v. There's a stand alone wardrobe for hanging clothing in as there is no closet. The bed was a queen and very comfortable with warm blankets and really fluffy pillows. I did find the wireless internet connection a little weak but I was able to get some work done. The room had the usual amenities, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, hairdryer, etc. The bathroom was very clean and the shower head was decent.

The on site restaurant is a Don Cherry's, which was pretty good. They have some good specials for each day of the week and the hotel provided a coupon for a 10% discount on lunch or dinner. Our server was very friendly and checked in on us frequently. As an added bonus the hotel also provided a coupon for a free breakfast at Cherry's. The breakfast consisted of a choice of two eggs any style, choice of potatoes or baked beans, choice of meat, toast and endless coffee or tea. It beats muffins and bagels.

I didn't pay but the room was reasonable and the hotel is just a couple blocks from By-ward Market. There's also an LCBO located conveniently across Rideau on the hotel's south side. On the east side (King Edward) is a gas station.

Overall it was a good stay and I would go back if I had business in that area of town again. I would have to say that I couldn't stay there for pleasure because my personal vehicle wouldn't fit in the underground parking. There is a pay lot on the west side of the hotel, but I don't know how much it costs. Generally when I travel for pleasure I don't stay where parking isn't included.

Room Tip: Very few rooms have a good view of downtown Ottawa. If you really want a nice view, you may want to...

“Just a hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Stayed 3 days at the Quality Hotel. There was nothing exciting about the hotel, its like most average hotels. Its not that I wouldnt recommend it but just dont look for something over and beyond. The rooms were clean but a bit tired looking. While there, several buses full of high school kids were piling in. I believe the hotel staff were smart enough to put them on their own floors as we didnt hear them. An excellent point about this hotel is the location. Its within walking distance to most downtown attractions ie; the market, the parliment buildings, the art gallery, Rideau Shopping Center. We also found the price reasonable. Cant speak for the parking as we took a cab to the hotel.

“I love this hotel, it feels like home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011 via mobile

Ive said it before and I'll say it again! I love this hotel! I've stayed in a lot of different places and I've never walked in and felt like I was walking intoy own house! The staff are wonderful, know us by name, smiles and are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect! The rooms are spotless and spacious, and are always kept that way! The cost is always great compared to all the places ive stayed previously! The location is excellent, right downtown so you have the option to walk around and check out all the awesome shops! The Don Cherry's staff are awesome and make you feel at home too! We'll never stay anywhere else whenever we're in town, and we travel back to Ottawa a lot! I love this place! <3
