I recently stayed at Minto Suites for 8 days for a business trip. My suite was large and well appointed. The efficiency kitchen was great! There was also a washer/dryer which I did not use. The room had a pull-out sofa bed, a separate bedroom, a walk through closet and dressing area, a huge ensuite and a half bath. Very nice. There was a shopping bag in the room upon my arrival and it was not removed the entire week. I also found a used pair of earplugs on the floor, but otherwise the housekeeping service was good. They even washed my dishes in the sink (I was not expecting that!).

I had very little interaction with the staff during my visit; much less than usual. Due to the proximity of the front desk to the elevator and main doors, there was little opportunity for this. I was staying in the hotel while the all-star game was on and the lobby was busier than usual. There were a lot of non-guests in the hotel and using the elevators, so a doorman or security person located closer to the front entrance would have been nice.

Room service breakfasts were well priced and correct. Unfortunately, Prime 360 was out of several items when I ordered an evening meal. I found the quality not up to par unfortunately. There is a 24 hour small grocery in the plaza making it convenient to grab a few items for meals.

As most other posters have noted, internet is at a cost. I would prefer to have a charge added to my bill than deal directly with the third-party provider.

Overall a good stay. Minto is my preferred hotel when I am in the area but is often fully booked. Book early if you can.

Stayed here Feb 2-5. The hotel was very busy due to Winterlude. We decided to stay here on the recommendation of a friend and were also looking for better value than our ususal Ottawa hotel - Marriott Residence Inn. The room was spacious enough. There was an empty room off one of the bathrooms which was supposed to have wanser and dryer? The double beds were very small double beds but the sofa pull out was more comfortable than most. Because the hotel was full our room was not serviced until after 5pm on day! During the week the food court under this hotel is great but it closed for the weekend. We tried the 360 steakhouse restaurant - it was quite good. The meals were pricey and my son ordered ribs with one rack being served cold in the middle and covered in hot sauce! The location is Ok but we have decided to try les Suites for our next trip - they offer free internet.

We stayed there on January 13-15 for our wedding anniversary. We booked a trip months in advance on expedia for very cheap (-25%). We got a room on the 5th floor that was very spacious but the carpet and the sofa were old… The queen bed had a curve in the middle so we spent the entire first night rolling in each other… It wasn’t comfortable at all! I was pretty disappointed but decided to complain at the front desk. They readily apologize and we switched to a room on the 19th floor that was much better (seemed newly renovated). The girl at the front desk said she would have reimbursed the first night but since we booked through expedia she couldn’t do that but she offered us free parking (8$/day) which was fine by us. We were just pleased that we didn’t have to fight to switch rooms.

As far as hotel amenities, the pool, spa and sauna were great. We definitely enjoyed our time there while it was such a cold week-end. The hotel well located and is walking distance to the canal (20 mins). What we didn't enjoy is the fact that you had to pay 10$/day to use internet (on tv!). Most hotels have wireless now so we didn't expect to have to pay for internet use...

We would definitely go back there, but try the bed when you first get in the room and don’t be afraid to switch. The lower level rooms don’t look renovated.

I have stayed in the Minto Suites on a number of occasions this year - the service is always impeccable. The suites vary in size but all have either a small kitchenette or a full kitchen which is great as I like to cook rather than constantly eat out. The addition of a washer and dryer is a boon.

On my last trip I suggested the hotel might provide a kitchen essential kit - oil/butter/salt & pepper etc - and have had a very positive response to my suggestion. I will use the Minto whenever I'm in Ottawa or Toronto as a matter of preference.
