This hotel is in the middle of the action in Ottawa, right next to the Farmer's Market. Followed the advise from previous reviews and requested a room facing the inner courtyard; no problems with noise at all at night. The only two real negatives were the price, $189 (seemed a little high for this type of hotel), and a strong smell in our room. We did not complain about the smell because we were only staying one night. Otherwise, I would have requested another room. That said, for a lower price I would return to this hotel in the future.

I stayed at the Courtyard for a couple of nights in October.

The most obvious plus point is the location, right smack bang in Byward Market, which meant a five minute walk to the beaver tail stand! My room was of a good size, and faced outwards. Despite previous reviewers comments, I experienced no problems with noise from outside. Complimentary in-room wi-fi was also provided.

Athough the hotel has undergone recent renovations, I can't help feel that these are superficial. I think the hotel could be so much better, but frustratingly can't quite put my finger on the reason why (probably not going to get many 'this was helpful votes'!).

If you stay here, you will love the location and ultimately will have little to complain about. Personally, I think it just lacked a little something in comparison with other Marriott hotels I have stayed in.

Stayed at the Courtyard Marriott on Dalhousie st in Ottawa from November 29 to december 2 2011 as I was attending a 3 days meeting. The hotel is a 15$ taxi-ride (about 10-15 min max) from the train station. The hotel is right downtown, next to Byward market and walking distance from parliament, National Gallery of Canada . The hotel was renovated and the feel is contemporary and clean.. Rooms are nice and clean, a little small for a king size bed but well appointed.Free wi-fi is provided in rooms Mattress and pillows are comfortable. I slept well except on the Thursday night as my room was facing a few bars where there was a lot of noise , but it might have been an exception as there were several police cars at times and ambulance. Just ask to be in a room away from the bars. There is a pool and a small exercise room with good quality equipment.

Most meals were provided by the meeting organisation. I have to say that for once it tasted better than the usual hotel meeting food sserved. There was a small reception for our group one night and the food served was also better than usually served.

Meeting rooms were adequate and up to standards. Staff was nice.

I regularly visit Ottawa and the Courtyard has become my spot when I come in town.

I wouldn't say that this is the most wonderful hotel in Ottawa, but the location can't be beat! Conveniently located in Ottawa's famous Byward Market this hotel will offer all you need for a great stay in the capital. Once here, you are steps away from the Rideau Centre, literally in the Market and a few blocks from Parliament Hill. The place is probably a bit nosier than other hotels in Downtown, but that's the price to pay to be in the middle of it all!... and a price I'm willing to pay ;-) to be part of the action.

The rooms and the common area (lobby and lounge) were revamped during the last year which is great. The rooms are now featuring a more modern look and are really functional, even if the bathrooms can be quite on the small side.

Service is consistent and they will always to anything they can to accommodate your requests.

For me, it's now a no brainer, I love and enjoy this hotel very much.
